Good thread over on Lot. Apparently Vitale is calling out coaches for tampering. @WVUALLEN made a good point that the shenanigans may actually be happening before the player gets into the portal. ie contacting a kid to see interest, ect.

Any thoughts. Any smug know-it-alls please stay out. You know who you are.

How do you define tampering?

I do think the rules need to be clarified.

But if someone goes to a HS coach or AAU coach and says Kentucky may have a spot for so and so....

Is that tampering.

That is where the tampering is at.

These schools are contacting not the player themselves but their family, friends, AAU coaches or HS coaches.


Calipari isn't calling or texting the players themselves nor is any of his staff.

I don't really get where the complaint is at
CJ Frederick is from Kentucky...

If Kentucky has a spot for him he would do anything to play there.

Frederick was playing 24 minutes per game, which isn't bad, but probably wanted more like 30-32 per game.
Could have been the man this year, along side Keegan Murray, but having a coaches son playing the same position, he likely knew he would be splitting that time. He would probably be a good fit at Kentucky, and as Townes alluded to, Kentucky boys like playing for Kentucky. They grow up seeing themselves playing at Rupp.

Get your rulebook out. Schools like Kentucky are stepping all over the loopholes.

I don't feel like any fanbase should cry about it.
The problem is certain coaches who think that their players shouldn't be recruited. It is going to happen for now with indirect contact being allowed.

I think something went on with Oscar T though. Someone "tampered" with him that caused him to just pick up and leave. And he went to UK right? Hmmmmmm.....it is not like Cal would ever bend rules. Or shoe companies would bend rules.

Aau coaches trying to bag a job at a school or get cash for steering kids.to agents. AAU coaches have become more slimy than ever.
