Bob, I actually agree the situation is untenable with CCC coming back next year. If he does, we’ll see the same thing as this year or worse. We absolutely could get hit in the Portal in this day and age. Who wants to lose?
That’s the question - who wants to lose. Not the players, not the fans. If gragg brings CCC back, he clearly doesn’t care much about winning. Hello Mr Taylor - enjoy your Dark Ages. I wonder what Taylor moved onto after NU.

As far as I can tell, Cockburn's backups are from the following group...

Omar Payne, 6'10" 230 lbs, who transferred in after two years at Florida, where he was a Top 100 recruit and averaged 15 minutes a game. Now he is playing 7 minutes per game.
Coleman Hawkins 6'10" 200 lbs a stickman compared to Nicholson. Not a Big Ten center.
Brandon Lieb 7'0" 210 lbs. Nicholson outweighs this guy by 45 lbs. No contest. Probably the reason they got Payne to transfer in.

I think the logical comparison is Payne - and Nicholson has put up similar numbers in his limited playing opportunities.

My advice to you is that it is a mistake to trust Collins' judgment, especially with the frontcourt.
MN was no top 100 recruit

Hey Chicken Littles, These guys have fought together and started to show some success. Sure we got smoked by Iowa, bunches of teams did, after beating Minnesota and Nebraska. I don’t think there are lots of obvious guys to transfer, more likely guys looking to come in than out. I think the theme across the NCAA is movement. Collins guys fought hard all year and did not quit. They have bought in. Koop is not an example of leaving for success somewhere else

I’m not sure I agree with that. While Kopp’s offensive numbers aren’t what they were at Northwestern, he is still getting a lot of playing time and will be playing in the NCAA Tournament next week. I bet he would call that a success.

What you seem to be calling "Chicken Little" is what the rest of the world calls a realist.

Anybody except Robbie Beran is a possible transfer.

And this "they bought in and have not quit" story is just "hear no evil, see no evil" wishful thinking.

I believe they quit on Collins, but were playing for each other until the Iowa game, when they just gave up entirely, except for Roper and Young and a couple bench guys.

There was nothing to "buy into."

Kopp wanted to improve his game, did he? Yeah, he plays, but does very little. Sulks a lot too. Some things don’t change when the uniform color changes, but hey one thing that did is Miller gets to play in the tourney. Good for him.

Has his game improved? I don’t see it. He looks slower, he can’t defend and he’s not shooting it well at all. I don’t see a lot of sulking though. When he’s on the bench he’s engaged and cheering on teammates. I do think he gets down on himself sometimes.

He needs some “emotional core therapy”.

The team massively underachieved and had one of the most frustrating seasons in NU basketball history. The team was supposed to be prime for an outstanding season with veterans and a strong recruiting class. Turned out to be a disaster. Change is needed.

Hey! I thought all the players suck! Wasn’t Greer the only guy who you graded a B? Barnhizer too?

I believe the spike has started as, since morning, there have been 31 names added.

Jordan Lathon is in the portal. So, there's another chance for him to be the savior of NU basketball.
