when did announcing you’re transferring high schools on twitter become a thing? Awful.

Next we will have some transfer (or) transfer eligible players referring to themselves as "Free Agents".

I don't know how they will stop this without penalizing hundreds of kids that really need to transfer for family reasons (moves, family finances, etc.). And I'm really not in favor of making hundreds of kids sit out a year.

I continue to see certain similarities between the transfer issue and border immigration. In both cases:
  • relocation is desired
  • the reason(s) can range from legitimate to gaming the system
  • "one size fits all" policies are difficult to establish fairness
  • case-by-case examination is warranted by some governing body
  • the time, numbers and documentation are overwhelming for above.

Next there will be something similar to baby gender reveal parties. The transfer could invite all his family and friends over and hit a piñata full of confetti for his new team’s color.

I do hate gender reveal parties. I see the similarities... and you’re joking but not far off.

I have a friend, another single mother (went to Manteno with her & brothers), who quietly announced on Facebook last week that her daughter was leaving Kankakee Trinity Academy for McNamara to start her freshman year this fall. Her daughter is probably already 5'10", and you could tell from her facebook videos that she was just tearing up the Christian school league in VB & BB...She was also the best player on her AAU hoops team...Her 6'5" older brother is staying at KTA - he seems destined to follow his uncles into the professional rodeo cowboy arena. Mom seemed embarrassed to even need to make the announcement...

Agreed. Not a big deal. Why broadcast it on twitter then?
That's what kids do? They grew up with social media. When I was in HS there was no YouTube. Then some years later kids could broadcast their highlights on the platform.

It's just a different era. The problem I have is when a kid tweets that they're transferring to Bloom from Plainfield East and the tweet location is Romeoville.

Plainfield East, draws kids from Plainfield, Romeoville and Bolingbrook.

In the age of social media, the narcissists believe everyone’s a celebrity. As misguided as it is, it’s real. Nothing else will explain why I need an update from my wife’s cousin every 10 minutes or so. There are at least a couple dozen people in my friends list that spend practically all their waking hours posting on Facebook and to a lesser degree Twitter.

Really like your new profile picture. It is a bull with sun glasses and headphones isn't it?
No - it's Sweet Meat - the pig mascot for KSHE 95 in STL, the world's longest-standing rock'n'roll station - 94.7 on the FM dial.

The station mascot is a sunglasses-and-headphones-wearing pig named "Sweetmeat," the likeness of which originally appeared on the cover of Blodwyn Pig's 1969 album 'Ahead Rings Out'.[6]

Like the pig pictured on the LP cover, Sweetmeat first appeared with a joint in his mouth. This "controversial" detail disappeared in the early '80s in favor of an updated, cartoon "rocker" pig. In recent years, the station has returned to using the original image, along with the original KSHE-95 text logo.

At top, the cartoon Sweetmeat used in the 1980s; at bottom, "vintage" Sweetmeat used as of June 2013.

Sweet Meat has been immortalized in famous artwork as well.

Yeah. They should just come spend their time on message boards I guess. Make no mistake the celebrity treatment begins in places like this one.

I think I was implying a false sense self because people have their own forum. I’m not sure how my Wife’s cousins obsession with social media or a couple other dozen people I know has anything to do with Edgy s forum but we are all entitled to our own opinion.

Was this their Crestwood studio or when they were in the city proper?

If you look on their website, they have AWESOME historic interviews/photos and concert clips with the biggest names in music history.

As soon as I saw the new profile pic, I thought "looks like we have a K-She pigger on the forum." lol

I completely understand that transferring schools is sometimes a part of life. No big deal. On the other hand, when it becomes a culture for some high school teams, it's disappointing.

I agree playboymixx. If you have no accountability then you get what you get. Cheaters! I don’t have the answers but it’s not fair and I don’t like looking the other way.
Some posters on here say who cares? Well if it was within the rules and all schools could legally have transfers coming and going then I say go ahead.
We all know that’s not the case or the reality of the situation.
