Transgenders fit that profile in a big way, just can't get enough attention, attention, attention.
You would think Facebook would provide enough of an outlet that they could just live life as a normal, every day attention *****.

Facebook would be useful for satisfying the sympathy outlet, but not all of the anger. Enough has happened in this thread to drag it out in the open and it hasn't yet happened, so the guy was just posing for our entertainment, which I applaud (5 stars like a previous poster gave). Or maybe it's hormone nap-time. I'm waiting for the suicide note - could really use a good laugh. But hopefully the OP will pen some interim trauma before it gets to that. This thread has potential. Everybody needs to decided now their role: good cop, bad cop. I'm the neutral advocate of 3rd party professionals, and a known cynical dickhead.

Good for you..I think it's hilarious when it tears people up so bad when it has nothing to do with them. I'm more of a live and let live person...do whatever you want, if it doesn't hurt me I don't care. Not sure why other people have such a problem with that philosophy

why is it that the live and let live crowd must always announce their intolerance for living amongst less tolerance? [winking] attention, attention, attention . . .

if I cut my pecker off and don't tell anyone.... just do it for the fun of it (or what I perceive I *should* do because I don't like that gross thing anymore), does that make me transgender or just psychotic?

Oh, wow. Such a great question. To be frank, I would have to say this would make you one of the most generous transGs/transSexuals ever . . . allowing the attention for the more needy crowd, requiring none for yourself. This would be much like a serious cancer patient who never reveals his/her illness to close family and friends, and dies politely and with dignity without putting loved ones through months and months of emotional trauma along the way. There are many who choose that option, after a lifetime of being offended by persons who attempt to claim hero status following the removal of a tiny tumor from their armpit many years earlier, and after six weeks of intermittent radiation treatment back in the early 1990s have never missed public cancer walks during the month of October (describing their take, not mine).

It's to combat the people who discriminate.

It's not even close to the same right as having equality. Discrimination seeks to not make things equal, it seeks to bend in its favor. So when some one blocks your discrimination, it's to balance the scales of justice.

It's lazy thinking. It's how bigots have tried to change the onus in terms of a national conversation. Rather than accept that their hatred is wrong, morally, ethically and legally, they attempt to spin the conversation that their right to hate is being discriminated against.

Take the Rowan county clerk denying marriage licenses the day the Supreme Court declared same sex marriage legal. Her contention is that people are interfering with her right to practice religion. Which is garbage.

Really, she's advocating her right to discriminate, that others are discriminating against her right to discriminate, which she does not have.

The world has been filled with injustice since the beginning of man, so it's up to people to fight that injustice. You do not have a right to discriminate.

The same logic where your "therapist" friends "analysis " is that transgender are narcissists. It's inane. It's the same logic that kept women the right to vote, blacks freedom, gays the right to marry or the nazis to power. Literally, the anti-Christ.

When you let that bigotry open and acceptable, you get genocides and wars. So people need to fight bigotry at the front lines. It's not ok.

It's wrong, and your intolerance does not give you the right to discriminate. It actually makes some one a peice of garbage.

I liked your post. I often do. Seriously. I like everybody's posts. There is nothing on this board I can't tolerate. If you had lived the same 55 years that I've lived you would know why. But you really need to relax and learn to enjoy an idle Sunday afternoon of nonsense more often. The subtlety of a bogus message board topic and the presentation of 3rd person discussions . . . some people are here for pure entertainment purposes only. Some of us have read our 500 novels already. We've earned our retirements already. And we don't really give a **** if we offend anybody by our cynicism and our sarcasm and our slang and our response to a topic that was started by somebody playing make believe. Now you keep crusading. And whenever I step out of line you just jump right in there and smack me over the noggin with a bucket of morals and I will tell you that I liked it. In fact I will.

Lek my man, I enjoy some of your posts, but you are dead wrong here. Expecting people to have the dignity to keep their lives private is not comparable to actual bigotry or discrimination, period.

Why can't people announce to the world who they are? Why should gays, transgender, women, whoever, be seen and not heard? People have a right to live their own life as long as that right doesn't infringe upon the rights of others. That's the point. When people discriminate, they infringe. A gay couple or transgender may offend your senses, but it does not infringe upon your liberty. To deny liberty , is injustice. People can face public scrutiny for becoming public figures, but discrimination is the line.

I had written in my 2nd post in this thread my clear conviction the OP's fiction. An anonymous message board is intended to be imperfect. Errors are expected to occur. The intelligent posters will know that. Be one.

<--- respect people that society apparently "looks down on" when they don't feel like they have to make a public announcement about their arrival. It's not bigotry IMO... I just don't like attention seekers or the "look at me" crowd one way or the other. It's why I loathe the Kardashians, essentially. They can't fart without the need of a tv camera there to record it. 1 reality show? OK. Going on 10 years with shameless self promotion? GFY.
You're judging from your standards. They're are times when being who you are, will get you killed. Posting on a message board little different than 5 TV shows or whatever the kardashians have.

Because you are reserved, doesn't mean others are. It's when you equate their lifestyle with a personality disorder that you move into the grey area.

Plus, the second question asked was why do the so called tolerant need to be intolerant, which I answered.

Victim? So now you're not joking? But before you were?

Got it.

Also, I'm sure you're retired therapist is caught up on all the current medical studies and diagnosis.

And you did a great job, although you were responding to idle rhetoric, which included a "winky." Ironically, the Wikipedia page for "Poe's law" (I had never heard of that so I Googled it) explains that the origin stems from an internet discussion of Creationism where a "winky" was credited for preventing misunderstanding of seriousness. Tell me that isn't just beautiful irony for this discussion?

OP Grats on telling your family. You will need their support. I can't imagine how hard it must be, but understand there are people out there who do care. You might have been born in the wrong time, but you can make a difference for the future. It won't be easy, but rejoice in who you are and fly your flag freely for the world to see. God bless.

If this is a troll post, then that's ok too.

funniest thing of all - and I do mean funny - is that LEK closed his reply to the OP recognizing that this thread was possibly ******** from the beginning. Then he goes about policing the thread as if there was room for only 100% seriousness after that. In other words, wherever he found bigotry he revealed his own hypocrisy. LEK just being a judgmental opportunist.

So what, now you're not joking? Got it.

I replied to your inane bigotry. I showed that.

But one second you're joking, one second you're not. Yea, I'm not the one being hypocritical here.

But go back to your anonymous bigotry...

I've known the OP going on about 8 years.. When he told me about this I thought he was joking with me. I can tell you hes not bluffing or making this up.

As his friend it shocked me, was the last thing I expected out of him. I won't judge him it's not my place to. If this will make him happy then more power to him. As his friend I'll support him.

I'm pretty sure that there are members on here that are either gay, lesbian, bisexual, or trans.

I'm one of them. I just recently came out as Transgender to my family. It hasn't been an easy road at all. I have been on hormone replacement therapy for 3 weeks now, and I can already tell the changes in my body that's taking place.

If anyone else here is Transgender, would you care to elaborate and talk about what changes you saw in 3-4 weeks after you started HRT?

Pics or gtfo.

I respect you, and your decision. But if you were born a women- you're a women- born a man- you're a man. Always. No amount of fake boobs
, hormone treatment etc will change that.

Sorry but it's true.

So, if a person thinks they're a chicken, or Lincoln, or God, they are diagnosed as having a mental illness. Same person identifies as the opposite sex, they are a hero and everyone has to make allowances for them?

Unchecked, this inconsistency will eventually lead to "hate speech" being punishable by incarceration.

I have no problem with OP identifying as a woman as long as he doesn't have a problem with me identifying him as the man he is.

I support the OP's cause because a) I want everyone to be happy with who they are b) My brain hasn't been washed by ancient fairy tales 3) Folks like the OP make people I generally don't care for uneasy.

I also cringed when I read the OP's post — not because of what it said — but because I know he's talking to people in a highly-religious, highly-conservative state. I thought "this won't end well."
