Trap game

Over the years, we have heard folks talk of trap games for NU, usually meaning the opponent was so bad that only if we fell asleep could we have lost. I noticed some in the media are saying Saturday's game is a trap game for MSU. Who would have thought they'd live to see a game in Memorial Stadium with that label? But over the past decade of Oregon State mediocrity the one thing Riley had done well is win several of these trap games, most recently last year against a very good ASU team.

Dantonio is too good of a coach for his team to overlook NU. If we are going to win we will have to play a clean game and get a few good breaks. If you listened to Dantonio's thoughts on NU and playing in Lincoln he will have his team ready to go.

I don't know, no one is giving us a chance, even our own fans act like MSU is unbeatable for us. They have a huge match up comming up against the Buckeyes and the Huskers look very bad to the naked eye, i mean we lost the Purdue, how good could we be? We have seen how many teams over look a team that appears to be weak or bad? It happens all the time. MSU could be looking towards its monster match up against OSU and thinking the Huskers our beat up, hurt and just not very good this year and come in with a basic and simple plan hoping to cruise threw this game and hopefully we are healthy and ready to rock.

I usually wouldn't say it's a trap, but even with injuries, a very odd move by MSU to take their bye week off from practice, so that does make me question a few things.

Coming off a bye, these kids will be rested and ready to go. I'm not surprised to see them get a week off....lots more game snaps occurring in games today vs in the past. To me, that means more bumps and bruises. Although our schedule is soft, we could've desperately used a bye week ourselves.

This. We have a ton of senior leadership, and from here on out, we are fighting for a championship. We had never beaten you guys in program history until 2013. Crazy to think we have a real good shot of winning 3 in a row, including 2 in Lincoln.

Do you think your crowd will just be slightly less crazy since you are having a down season or that won't matter since it's a big time opponent coming to town?

You dont understand how devastated we are with injuries. We've had to play 11 different OL this year, and start two freaking true frosh at safety. Not to mention both of our RBs are hurt.

Yes, I can see how you might question the week off...but our guys really needed it.

I agree, Dantonio is telling his players to not view Nebraska as the team that lost to Purdue. His is telling them that Nebraska is a team that would have easiliy won the game minus the five turnovers. Remember MSU only beat Purdue by 3.

What is the current status of your players who were banged up?

Will Wilborn have a chance to finally see the field with Newby possibly out? That's one plus but Newby being out is a decent hit for us. He isnt exactly elite but he is a solid RB and usually gets good yards per carry and has good hands comming out of the back field.

For the first time since the 2nd week of this season (Oregon Game) we will have our original starting OLine back. Conklin been out 3 weeks, Keiler out 1, and Jack Allen out past 2 weeks. Our OL has been a MASH unit all year. We also have had a slew of injuries on D as well. We do get one of our starting CB's back (Hicks). Our Dline has been a monster this year and hope we can continue to bring it Saturday. There are very few "gimmies" in college football.
