How much NIL would you think he's worth, annually? Based on last year's performance.
I wouldn’t think very much to be honest. UK at $400k and Ol Miss at $700k (what I heard) or $1Mm (what i read here I think) is crazy over the top. I guess $400k sounds about right but I don’t know much about this.

The kid knew what Kentucky was all about before he got there. He knew it would be hard to get significant minutes here.

That said, I doubt he plays much for Ole Miss either.

He's in for a rude awakening. He would have done better to head to a Mid-Major.
Are you being serious? Mid Major NIl versus $700k-$1Mm at Ol Miss? Would you pass on $750,000 for one Fing year? I wouldn’t.

I don’t understand why you’re defending him like you’re his agent. Kid gave the middle finger to UK. He’s not on our team, hope he averages 1.3ppg on 21% shooting and trips over his shoelaces twice a game.

“Just felt like, at the end of the day, you’ve got to make the best decision for yourself and your basketball career. You only get so much time to do it, only so much time to play basketball. So, felt like I made the decision that myself and my family felt like was best for my basketball career.”

Apparently he and his family don't understand the lifetime value of leaving a Kentucky Wildcat in good standing. I wish him the best when not playing UK, but our other KY guys will rep the blue and white just fine without him.

Im not a Travis Perry fan. I'm actually amazed that Beard, who plays tough *** D had a spot on his team for a 6 foot slow footed player who is bucket for the other team anytime he's on the court. Maybe he can get his three shot more on track when he's away from playing for Big Blue pressure. But, he's still a bucket for the other team anytime he's on the court.

This board loves to obsess over the 13th or 14th man just because of the zip code they played peewee ball in. It won't ever change.

I agree with u we will benefit immensely if he plays decent minutes for ole miss. Loon for UK to win at Rupp big like ole miss did down there last season.

You're either with us or against us and he is now with the enemy and will be trying to beat us. I wish him no luck whatsoever with his basketball career.

Ole Miss/Oxford has an old south genteel nature and I can see Perry fitting into that culture. If he sticks around Oxford for the rest of his career he can probably parlay that into a nice life after basketball there. He won’t be scrutinized as much there and even if he didn’t want to say it or admit it to himself, I still think that’s the biggest player in his departure.

As an outside observer, I think he goofed. For some reason Beard wanted to poach him and was successful. I think he'll regret that. From the outside looking in that's an odd fit. Perry is the one that's got to live with it. We'll be fine without him. I wish him no luck except when he plays a team I hate, like Duke or Louisville.

My assessment from the distilled quotes contained in that article: Perry wants to be individually pushed/coached by the coaching staff to become the best possible version he can ever be in college. The top teams in the SEC (UK, Old Miss, etc) all have rosters loaded with great athletes, and some/many coaches rely on natural competitiveness/survival of the fittest to determine the lineup and places off the bench. While iron sharpens iron, no one is ever going to accuse Perry of being a freak athlete. Perry will never possess laser quickness, be 6’6”, or ever jump out of the gym. From that article it appears Perry wants to be in a place where he believes the staff will push him and demand of him that he overcome his lack of elite athleticism and height to become a really good college player. Like a Brian Evans at Indiana, a Wiltjer at Gonzaga or that runt guard at Purdue.

I’ll never begrudge a college player who transfers to a place where he believes he’ll get individually coached harder than where he was at. I’m not taking shots at Pope or his staff - from that article it appears to me Perry believes he’ll be coached harder at Ole Miss.
