I watched it and my biggest takeaway was that he was not primarily a ball-handling PG to initiate offense. It seemed that Ole Miss uses a Team PG concept, with everyone handling the ball, bringing it up and starting the sets. Perry did handle it some and looked fine. Mostly, he was a spot-up perimeter guy, but did penetrate the elbows off the bounce and looked comfortable in the lane. His defensive play was much improved, I thought, as Ole Miss plays man with constant switching, rather than fighting through picks. It appears to be a trademark of Beard's defensive approach. Perry was active on defense, using his hands and blocking out, reminding me of Sheppard's defensive approach when he was here. He simply did not shoot the ball well. He rushed a few looks, I thought, and maybe was pressing. We've seen that with Chandler, Williams and Noah a little bit this year, so far, too. Perry and our guys will all settle down and take well-balanced shots, I'm sure. I think legit shooters' percentages usually. but not always, gravitate to historical averages. We'll see, of course.
