Treatment of Brands Bros at OSU

Was anyone at the dual on Sunday?
Not sure if this was talked about.
I heard the treatment of the Iowa team and as a whole was delporable and embarrassing for a University.
They sat an older lady right behind Tom's right shoulder, about 3 feet from him, and she constantly got up and screamed in Tom's ear and would put her "pistol" hands in his face.
OSU ran footage of Terry Brands losing to Kendal Cross at Olympic Trials, but then zoomed in on Terry crawling off the mat and showed him crying. They also showed Tom getting beat by someone.
I know OSU is allowed to show whatever they want on their video screen, but they were obviously trolling the Brands
I did think sitting the obnoxious lady right next to Tom seemed negligent.

Tom really showed them though when he flipped off the record setting crowd. AJ taught him well.

I hope it happened as it's good for the sport and the rivalry. We need some toughness brought back into this society.....

Are we this soft now?

To paraphrase Terry, "get him an emotional support pillow"

I personally thought the video thing was awesome. I wouldn't be surprised to see More of that in the future. Have to give credit for the creativity.
Maybe if Taylor and crew come to Carver next year they can play his finals match with Dake, or just have Dumbo playing on the big screen half the night?! Honestly, I have no problem with jeering the opposing teams coaches. If you dish it out, you better be ready to take it back is my only thoughts.

Imagine if everyone's wish came true and either Dake or Burroughs came to Iowa. That big screen at Carver could be awesome!!

Notice they start doing this **** when they know they are about to go on a decade long run of curb stomping us. The Terry video was extra diabolical since everyone knows that was a very negative life changing event, not just a simple loss.

That’s the type of attitude that makes one wrestle tight and focus on not losing rather than letting it fly and having f*n.

There's rivalry stuff then there are things like this that are just low class. Showing Terry losing a match from 30 years ago, when he wasn't even competing as a Hawkeye, is pretty low class. If that is what excites their fanbase have at it. Sure TnT bring some of this on themselves but again, it was 30 years ago. If the next time OKst comes to Carver we play a match of Daniel Dennis beating Jimmy Kennedy I think most fans would think it was pretty dumb.

Like our fans wouldn't go wild over videos of Tom, Terry, Randy, Royce, Jimmy Z, Lincoln or Ironside whipping Okie State stars from the past. I think some people are being a little too dramatic here, probably because this just rubbed our noses in the mat!

Yeah, but it was more about aiming it towards our coaches vs celebrating their past wrestlers. It's straight up trolling which you'd like to think university athletic depts are above.

Even funnier if we had fielded a lineup that could beat them and silence the crowd. Alas...
Not sure that would "funnier" but yeah we all know you want different coaches.

I am curious, Who would be your top picks (3Head coaches and 3 assistants) for our new coaches? Do you think TnT will be replaced prior to next season?

When the mighty fall to this level it's going to be open season. There are two options continue the course until we are so irrelevant it doesn't matter enough to rub it in our faces (PSU is here currently) or make the changes to get in the race and possibly give some back.

Grip, I have never agreed with the fire Brands crowd. I don't know what the answer is (nor do I get paid to make the tough decisions), but not a lot has gone Iowa's way this year on the college level. If we crash and burn at B10s and NCAAs (which I'm still holding hope that that won't happen) this year I officially believe some hard questions need to be asked to Tom. Tom is a realist and believes you get what you earn, which in this scenario he will have earned some tough decisions imo.

Personal insults or brawling in the peanut gallery doesn't make anyone tougher. A lack of self-discipline is not the same as passion. Matches are won on the mat, not in the stands. If our guys had wrestled up to traditional Hawkeye wrestling standards, then those nasty Okie State fans would have faded into silence. Personally, I respect good wrestling no matter who does it. While I may still "strongly dislike" ;) their f'n fans (e.g. F*** State, fOSU, pOkie St.), I respect their wrestling when they do it right.

As someone else noted, Iowa has often shown a "rough" home crowd for wrestling and for football. (Back in the fifties, the visiting football teams had to dodge apple cores and bottles ...) And now with A.I.-generated video propaganda, no doubt some of us will also make some pretty gross vids. Bread and Circus hasn't all that changed much.

I was there. Along with the families of the team I probably saw no more than 30 Iowa fans. The brands fan train seems to be losing steam.

Oklahoma State is just asking for it the way they sit fans right behind the Iowa bench. They need to find a better way to protect the athletes. I’m all for rough treatment to the Hawkeyes but your back should not be lined with Oklahoma State fans, drinking and harassing you.

I’ve been to a number of these dual meets in Stillwater. The production they put on blows Iowa city away. I’ve never seen Iowa fan level so low.

We need to quit listening to people who keep telling us that we’re not tough. Do you have people around you? That are not tough? All my family and friends are tough. I’m guessing you must hang around a lot of soft friends.

I think you guys need to accept that all the motivation in the world and bringing in the greatest possible coach that isn't Taylor or Sanderson is gonna change the attitude towards Iowa right now.

Everyone is ready to see Iowa fade away and become "just another program" like they are in all other sports.

And I mean f***ing everyone, and I truly don't believe that you and other Iowa fans honestly grasp the magnitude of that fact/reality.

The top recruits are done looking at Iowa as a top program, and they don't care who is coaching them.

Everyone else is treating Iowa like a black sheep in the sport that just happened to overstay their welcome at the top of the sport.

As neat as it is to be rah rah optimist fan and "never give up hope that we can turn this around and bring back the glory days!!!", I'm telling you right now, no one actually involved in the sport of college wrestling (coach nor athlete) is willing to let that happen, and there's nothing we fans can do about it.

Just sayin...........

P.S. and again, let me f***ing reiterate since people will read this and not believe me or kindly disagree. It's not my f***ing fault that Iowa fans aren't willing to accept just how unwilling everyone else is to let Iowa become a national title contender in wrestling again.

I don't believe this at all. It just takes a coach with the right mindset and vision. Look no further than Indiana football. Let that sink in...INDIANA FOOTBALL! They started from less than zero and were pretty much penciled in as a "W" on every Big10 team's schedule. Built a powerhouse and kicked the living crap out of everyone. Iowa is starting as a blue blood with exceptional history and fanbase. You are telling us its over?

And it's not our fault that you are always such an Hawkeye-hating jerk. In fact, we are not "that way" in all other sports, and whether our wrestlers get back to kicking your team's *** or not is our challenge and out of your control. GFY
