It's possible he could ask out but I doubt it. SC was after him and Calipari paid little attention really, only token interest.
I'd say he stays with SC and that's OK, wish him the best.

He’s already signed his NLI, so Pope is not even allowed to talk to him …much less “try to get him to decommit.”

I suppose the kid could ask for a release on his own, but it would be a violation if there was evidence that it came at the urging of UK.
I think the best Pope could do is assert his desire to recruit the best in-state guys and make a statement that anyone who went out of state is welcome home. That would either be at his opening presser or an interview shortly thereafter.

From there, let the guys who are in Noah's position hear the call and do what they will.

All you can do is hope he enters the portal.

It has bothered most of us how often UK and Cal ignored in-state talent. We were always getting Reed so that's not so much a Cal thing and we were lucky to get Perry to commit. Kentucky kids should always be noticed first by Kentucky coaches and have the inside track on them. Hopefully, Pope can always get one of these kids to help compliment the rest of the roster.

It was never "Calipari against the state of Kentucky kids." Cal can't win unless the talent is elite. Outside of a few, there wasn't a lot of elite talent in the state. There was a lot of three stars in the state, but Cal doesn't recruit that, even out of state.

Will Pope try and get him to decommit from South Carolina?
Sometimes I think it might work out better if a staff keeps an eye on (and maybe cultivates some relationship with) certain high school kids that go somewhere else and then poach him out of the transfer portal in a couple of years. Of course, that's a gamble because he might not transfer, or he might transfer to a school other than UK. But if you think they need some seasoning, it could work out really well for them to mature, toughen up and acclimate against grown men on someone else's dime.

Well not anyone.... We are talking one specific guy. Maybe if he worked in some Flooding references to get the point across he is talking to Noah.

Not any and every 1-3 star to come out of Kentucky. Just the ones that might've not had a chance with Cal and would fit in well with the new system. If Noah's family are UK fans, they'll definitely know.

Pope will not recruit with Cal or like Cal. Cals agenda was to send players to NBA and Popes will be to win at UK for UK.

Pope can only speak to Noah if Noah initiates the conversation. Once an NLI is signed, he’s off limits and would have to ask for a release from SC which is unlikely. Maybe we get him in the Portal in a year or two

That was one thing even Pitino managed to realize when he was here at least. Pelphrey, Feldhause, Farmer, Ford, Epps, Padgett, who else am I missing? All played significant roles. I think Pope will embrace a lot more of these guys.
