Re: Trestman

You are right on with your assessment and probably right about who the Bears pick next. If ever there was a time for a coach with experience it is now. If they bring in another rookie head coach it says once and for all that saving money trumps winning.
I did a little research. We know the Bears have been an up and down and inconsistent organization ever since Ditka left. But they have only been able to string together three consecutive seasons of winning percentages of .500 or over with one coach since Ditka's departure. Those happened to be Lovie Smith's last three years.
Ditka was the last George Halas head coach signing. I remember the time he left, all of the Halas coaches and players were for the most part gone. For me, that was the takeover point for the McCaskeys and it hasn't been pretty. You look back into the recent past and look at these guys they signed after Ditka. You know it's bad when you say Lovie was the best. Smith did have a winning record. But it has become a bad organization.
Make no mistake about it. No one can give credit to the organization that fired Trestman and Emery. That was a no brainer. But, they didn't do it because they want the fans to think they are really trying to win. They did it because if they didn't, Lake Forest would have turned into Ferguson, Missouri and Halas Hall would have been a building being looted and burned.
You can bet they are pissed because this is going to cost them more money.
