I can testify Duke has a top notch ophthalmology dept. My daughter goes to Duke for numerous things and one of those involves
her seeing the Duke Neuro-ophthalmologist. Their words were if we can’t fix your eye problems no one can and we can fix almost anything. Glad he’s getting great care.

I worked at the Duke Eye Center a long time ago -- world-class, rock stars!

I think this is pretty interesting. The question becomes if he hadn't told anyone of the vision issue, or if others just never did anything to help.
