Are we looking at any other guards in that class. Let's say Luke leaves, we could have Frank and the freshmen. Seems to me like O'Connell projects more as a wing. Seems like a need if Luke leaves.

Honest question, what is Alex O'Connell's role going to be if a few come back? From watching the videos, he has a pretty shot. Almost a skinnier Luke Kennard.

Trae your announcing Thursday. If it's Kansas does that mean trevon is ours?

He's a four year program player, I don't think he will have a role next year. If he does, chances are we aren't very good.

Look for him to be a contributor years down the road.

Also...I REALLY want Duval, will be nice to have a PG who will be one of the best players on the court at all times.

Don't sell Alex short. Very athletic. Very competitive. Can definitely score. But also does the others such as rebound and defend.

His role or minutes may depend on how much strength he is able to add. Kid is for sure in the mold of Luke as a scorer with Grayson's athleticism

I think Alex has the potential to becoming the next most hated Duke player by unc nation. He has all the make up to be so. His dad played at Duke. Unless Jack White steps up or Luke stays another year someone on Duke's team has to assume that role. OFC

In no way am I knocking Alex however if he is a scorer like Luke and an athlete like Grayson, than shouldn't he be our best player??

I think Alex would probably be our fifth guard next year - second guard off the bench (spot minutes for most games). Maybe slightly similar to the role that Grayson played as a freshman.

I believe Frank Jackson and Gary TrentJR are our only locks as to who is guaranteed perimeter minutes next year. I say that believing there's a 90% chance Frank is back.

Maybe's: Kennard, Grayson, Duval, Knox (getting 2 of these 4 would be nice, 3 of 4 would be HUGE)

Time will be determined by what the "Maybe's" do: Jack White, O'Connell

Alex needs to get much stronger to meet the physical demands of college play. I think you took what I said and equated it to Grayson and Luke now. Alex has Grayson and Luke qualities when they were FR. Again, if Alex comes into Duke at 180, I think he has ability to contribute in some role. Now will he? That's only to be seen through the eyes of the Staff and the progress he makes in practices.

Trae Young just announced to Oklahoma.... man I really hope trevon loved his visit! I know Kansas has Malik Newman coming in next year so hopefully that helps us somewhat get Duval

Well crap. I still think Duke would be the more attractive option at the moment, especially with the guys coming in and no threat of someone taking minutes away.

According to KU fans on the main board trevon is ours

Hopefully they are right... I know nothing when it comes to recruiting but reading the tea leaves I looked at it as... trae young going to Kansas meant Duke having a great shot at Duval, if he went to Oklahoma (which it's confirmed now) it would be tough to beat out Kansas for him...

I would love to get Duval obviously, but Frank will be ready to run the point next season in case we don't get him.

Maybe more like Freshman Luke and Grayson for now. His role will be shooting and maybe some facilitating. The kid has an exceptional dribble game. He'll get tossed in a wind storm though. Maybe a better comparison role wise for Alex may be freshman Andre Dawkins. There's a chance he, Frank, Duval and Trent are our only guards next season.

Not being a smartass at all, but, there is no pg who would pose a threat to Trevon Duvall bringing the ball up for anyone.

Here's my view, not that it means much. Duval reopened his recruitment in hopes to get a Duke offer. He also has watched Duke games all year and it's clear that Duke needs a starting PG. Also with the potential of many the players leaving couple with the incoming class, Duval would be both an impact to the team as well as to NBA scouts by the Duke games being on TV. With all that said, Duke provides everything Duval wouid want. Not saying he's going to Duke, but he definite could.

Think about it this way, Young pulled the trigger first. If he was worried about Duval, Kansas wouldn't have even been in the mix. Young wants to go somewhere that he has the keys off the bat. If he didn't choose Kansas, it must mean they have a solid plan at the point already, right?

Would love to see trevon at Duke! Could you imagine a back court pairing during points of Duval and Jackson

I am of the belief that 2 of those 4 is more of a necessity than a nicety. And that is assuming that Frank comes back. 1 out of those 4 means Trent has to be ready for at least 30 minutes a game and Alex/Jack provide at least 15 minutes a game and zero injuries to the 1-3 spots. That is pretty thin ice.

"After that I’m planning to take some time and have a long talk with my parents, think about it, see what other people do and see how March Madness goes then I’ll decide from there.

I don’t think I’ll commit before the McDonald’s All American Game."

Would love to see a Knox/Duval pair commit to Duke at that game.
