A poster on Trilly’s discord said Aberdeen to UK was “incoming”. Trilly later commented that this user “knows things” seeming to state he was a credible source.

I remember the Florida pregame Leach interview with Pope and he raved about DA. I could tell at that time he saw things on tape that he knew DA was a real problem to defend. Wouldn’t surprise me if Pope has major interest.

Too much is made of 3 point shooting percentage, IMHO.

Actually, Brea was asked to take on more offensive responsibilities in the UK system, and he ended up taking a lot of tough threes. That’s part of why his 3-point percentage went down.
I don’t thinkwe necessarily need a 40% shooter, having a bunch of guys in the 30–40% range is totally fine, as long as they can defend, hustle, and play hard. You can still win games that way.
I see Williams in the Brea role on offense. He shot 41% this past season.
He’s also not a liability on the defensive end like Brea was. Williams can flat out defend.
If he does leave that would be a huge let down.

Wonder if his subpar performances in the All-Star games (especially the Hoop Summit) and the fact that Pope is being so active in the portal has him thinking he won’t get many minutes? He might be looking for a team that will let him start as a Freshman and gives him a shot at being OAD.
This seems like a reverse Cal move by Pope. Cal recruited over the older guys and brought in Freshmen to start, now Pope is bringing in portal guys to start instead of the Freshmen he signed.
If Johnson leaves, I understand, but I also understand Pope wanting to improve the roster. Bring in the best you can get and let them compete. If you don’t think you can compete on a loaded roster, you probably can’t.
You can look at Philon and Pettiford. They didn’t get scared off by loaded rosters and they did just as well as they would have anywhere else.
I like Aberdeen. Can play a little point too.
