Yes! I'm a platinum member going on 24 years now. Particularly for the Wife if she breaks down and I can't get to her right away. Get the Premier service with extended towing (up to 200 miles) it pays for itself the first time you need a tow. Also many other perks like free gas brought to you if you're stranded, lockout service, battery replacement, flat tire repair, trip-tik and many more.

Well worth it.

I have it and have used it. Got a flat and it was raining hard on vacation and not particularly rushed. Was fortunate to be at a shopping center and had a cup of coffee while they changed the tire. Took about 45 minutes and I was back in service.

Daughter was school and trying to get to VB practice. Car wouldn’t start. AAA got there in 20 min. Found her battery was dead. They had a replacement on the truck and sold it to us. I was in southern Va and she was in Baltimore.

Last time I used it was in Delaware and had a break down. They could not get me going and had to tow the car to a shop. Fortunately I could stay with my brother while his mechanic fixed the car. Note, because of covid, I was not allowed to ride with the tow truck driver so if I was in a remote location, I would have to have had to get my own ride.

With my iPhone and our desire to go places and do things, I agree with ATL and think it’s worth it too.

Definitely worth the protection and peace of mind for my daughters and wife while on the road.

I've had two friends that have used it. They will never use it again. It was a Sunday for both but one's girl friend was stuck on the side of the road for nearly 2 hours. Another, I passed on the way home from a golf tournament outside Charlottesville. Called and asked him if he wanted me to get him some gas and bring it back? He said he had already called triple A. I got back to Roanoke before they showed up. That's about 140 miles.

I don't doubt your story but I've never had a problem with them. Maybe it has something to do with available service trucks in the area due to population vs demand? Still it's a good deal vs paying for a tow.

We were at a golf tournament and one of the guys girl friend called him on here way. We were all supposed to go out for dinner after the round. He had to leave and go get her when it became apparent that they weren't going to come. As I said, I passed the guy outside Charlottesville and I called him. I kept checking on him. It was hysterical. He was about 5 miles from exit 136 on I64.

I'm sure there are always "those moments" when for whatever reason some service calls aren't answered right away. Nice thing about Triple A is you can track when a truck is dispatched after your call, and if you sign up for texts they will keep you updated on the status of your service vehicle as it makes its way towards you. Worse comes to worse, they always follow up with a customer satisfaction survey for both the tow operator and dispatcher so if you get jammed up like your friends did, you can blast 'em on the survey.

Sometimes if they get a bad survey they will bend over backwards to make it right up to and including a free year's membership just to keep you happy. As I said, I've never had a problem with them but my membership (Auto Club South) has one of the largest enrollments in the country! Maybe they're just used to handling multiple calls in the area I live?

I still say it's a good deal.

These "moments" were both on Sundays and on major highways, I 64 and Rt 220. And close together.

Well, maybe they had a backlog or service issue in that area. I can tell you if worked in Va Bch, Baltimore & Rehoboth Beach.

I hear 'ya. I can 100% guarantee if what your friends experienced on their Triple A service call was the norm rather than an unfortunate exception...they (AAA) wouldn't have even half the membership they have! Things happen, but I have never had a problem with them...never. I'm not the only one who's satisfied with their service responses, although I'm sure they've dropped the ball a few times on more folks than your friends.

That's one thing I didn't mention. The average tow is going to cost you well in excess of 100.00 and even a basic membership pays for itself the first time you need a tow. I think there's a limit on how many service calls you can have in one year with a basic membership, but even with two or three tows (their limit) you've paid for your yearly membership. With a basic membership they will tow your car up to five miles to the nearest repair facility...with the more expensive services you can get towed anywhere from 50 up to 200 miles. Still even those membership levels are less than the average price of one tow, and there are no tow limits with Premiere membership.

worth the $$$$$$$$ IMO.

I had AAA for a lot of years and never used it and when renewal came up I'd always think "Why am I wasting money on it?" but would still renew. Then one time a winter storm was coming and I wanted to go to the store and my battery turned out to be dead. And AAA came to my house and it was fixed in an hour and I got to go to the store before the storm. And AAA charged a reasonable fee for the battery (and IIRC they charged nothing to come out and put it in).

I haven't used AAA services since but I gladly renew it each year now. Even if I never use it again it gives me peace of mind. Think of it as insurance. You may never need it, but if you do need it you'll be really glad you have it.

The nice thing about the service is whenever you use it, it pays for itself. There are so many other things besides towing you get with it too. Discount coupons, travel advisory services, insurance offers, I.D. theft protection...even tax or career guidance services... all free! It's one of the better deals out there for the money.

anyone ever use the service & is it worth getting a membership?

I've had one for 10 years. I view it as low cost insurance. I traveled heavily for work and it has helped me several times with flats and tows.

Got a flat in Kane, PA....was -8 and the lug nuts were frozen. I was in suit and dress shoes. They were there in 30 min.

I think my membership gives me 3 free calls and 1 tow, I forget the radius but I think it's 100 miles?

I rode from New Castle to PGH airport with tow driver. He dropped me off at the airport then took car back to my office. Not bad service!
