We only spent a couple of days in Rome. I would go back in a heartbeat. So much to see. Loved Sorrento. Florence was good. Our travel agent only whiffed on one restaurant.

Did Germany and Switzerland by car over 20 years ago. The touristy areas were pretty dirty in Germany and I didn’t obey the speed limits. Had rented a Lexus sedan and that thing would zip. The Autoban was a hoot. We would be going 120 mph or190 km/hr and I would see some large Mercedes or BMW in my mirror gaining on me like I was pedaling a bike. Headlights flashing alternatively.

Real interesting seeing how others act over there. Did eurrail pass and stayed a week in Rome and Florence Took overnight train from Florence to Munich- got to Munich at 5 am. No cars anywhere near the station and red light. I jaywalked the red light and about 20 Germans looked at me like I had 3 heads. They were waiting for green to walk?? The day before no one cared one iota about traffic lights- total chaos.

So under this scheme someone who has had the tickets since the 1950s, but has never donated including this year is way low on the pecking order since the only thing they have going for them is a returning season ticket holder? If that is the way volleyball was done weren't some of the long time ticket holders very upset?

That scenario would be really rare. To transfer those older seats you have to "donate".

I think the whole thing is crazy and will probably lead to the AD who does it getting fired, but what do I know. There is no point in me moving. If I want to watch games in some random seat, I'll just take the money saved from not buying season tickets and "donating" and buy a couple games I truly want. Seems like there is never enough money for a 7 win program.

Yes it’s the way it should have been done. Unless someone can tell me why they are into having a socialist type program instead of a free market where those with the means can access better seats currently occupied by those that do nothing but complain, and never ever donate

Those "socialists" have been pouring millions into the program for decades. Before we were ever good, after we were good, and after we got bad. The mandatory donation for transferring tickets went into place in the early 2000's? Only people I know who don’t "donate" are people who just took less desirable tickets. Anyone with decent seats donates for them.

Can't wait to see what the AD does with all this extra money. Maybe we'll use the proceeds to buy an 8th win.

By now everyone donates for seating unless you have seats in the nose bleed section since the early 1960’s you donating depending on where you seat.

The question is how they reseat seats in the North and West sections of the stadium.

The question is how they reseat seats in the North and West sections of the stadium.

The main question should be what will they do with this extra revenue that they think will materialize. They haven't shown wise spending so far. I'm leery they will start.

They already have alcohol revenue. Event revenue. They can't sell out as it is. Does selling 50,000 tickets to a UND type game but getting a few more $1,500/seat donations actually lead to more revenue?

Yep same here. I used to be in South end zone when Trev started the remodel talk I went to West club . I totally get the South end zone redo . But why can’t they do what they did in the north add some concourses for Restrooms and concessions. Yep football is not on the level of Volleyball anymore he has to be real careful.

I guess we shall see- my seats since 1970 gave up this year. No regrets

Increasing the seat donations is not the primary objective, collecting voluntary donations in addition to the seat contributions is the goal. Over the past year and a half, the number of $25,000+ donors has doubled from 300 something to well over 600, driven almost exclusively by fans wanting to get good seats in the VB reseating. To get a prime seat on the 50-yard line will probably require a $75K-100K voluntary contribution. High row seats in the North and South stadiums will probably be available with no contribution.

I see your point, but you can look at it that it is a way of encouraging donations to the athletic department in an era of profit sharing and NIL. The additional contributions are tax-deductible so it is easier for fans to accept than jacking up the required seat donations. With respect to the overall economics, you make a good point. I doubt that many of the people being booted out of the west stadium are going to buy new seats in row 65 of the south stadium, they will just start watching the games on TV. They are already having trouble selling all the tickets, so it isn't like they have a waiting list to pick up the slack.
