I was in a bar in Nashville one time and Troy Gentry walked in. Band started playing "Gone". Troy walked up, sang the song, dropped a hundo in the tip jar, crushed his beer and walked out. Seemed like a good dude.
Eff you to the guy who is trashing his music on the day he died. Grow up.
I met him once. Good friend/former co-worker was very close to him and his family. He was devastated when he heard today. The family lost his brother to suicide a few years ago, and I think his dad died last month, too. Feel so bad for his family.
Sorry to hear this. By all accounts I've read, he was a good dude, and a true blue Cat fan. As for their music, they are/were good at what they did, and there is a huge market for that kind of early "bro" country. So, I'm not going to put it down.
[laughing] Cubby would probably like a rematch. And to be clear, I have absolutely nothing against hunting. This dude purchased a tame animal, had it penned up on maybe an acre or so of ground, shot it from a tree stand and then topped that feat off by tagging it as a wild kill, mugging for the camera as if he'd really done something. I'd rate his actions a full rung below people who spotlight deer, and as an avid fisherman, I'd equate it to someone who dynamites or electroshocks a body of water, finds the biggest fish and has it mounted as something they caught. I know a couple of guys who were hammered for spotlighting deer. They are pretty much a POS in their everyday lives. Was Gentry a POS in his everyday life? I don't know. I do know that he was a POS as a "sportsman" though.
