This show pretty much just sucks so far. Boring, Characters I don't care about. Poor storytelling. Thin acting.

The only hope is that Rachel McAdams will get necked. And that will probably be underwhelming.

SMH. LOL! No, I can't argue that this season is as good as last. The writing isn't as strong. Dialog is strained. Etc. Etc. I have admitted to myself it's not going to get any better.

Season one really looks like an outlier. Lightning in a bottle. But, hey I'm still watching and enjoying 2. Not nearly as much as I wanted to. Very disappointing.

Totally agree. I was so bored watching last night's episode. But, I did note (often) that RM looked good in her jeans.

I am so tired of Vince constantly speaking in metaphors. I am also tired of seeing him piss off old business associates. We get it. He is desperate to recoup his missing money and has no scruples about burning bridges. Do we have to see it 3 times in every episode?

The personal stories of the 3 main cops are all extremely boring.

The shootout with the cops and the drug gang was so unrealistic it was hard to watch. I felt like I was watching a Star Trek episode where all of the other cops were Redshirts and the 3 main characters were the only ones who were going to survive the shootout. On top of that, the general public was either just hanging around after the bullets started flying, or running toward the shootout. Silly.

I'll see it through to the end because it's summer and there is nothing on but what a major disappointment. Colin Farrell's character is the only one I have any interest in at all. I would think someone would just off VV. It's not like the guys he sold his shady businesses to are on the up and and up. You sell your business and then come try to steal it back you better bring more than a pair of pliers. He's just not believable as the badass to me.

I'm sticking around because I'm still wanting to know who is the guy in the bird mask that shot Colin and killed the guy that has VV's money. I was a little shocked that they guy from Deadwood got taken out in the shootout. I figured he'd stick around longer. I stuck around last season with MM speaking in riddles most of the time, don't have a huge issue with VV doing the same thing.

My favorite thing about the show though is the opening song.

Did anyone else get the feeling that the next episode takes a jump forward in time a few years or maybe back a few years since Colin looks all cleaned up.

The writing feels forced. They suddenly drop lines with no step up that just feel like someone trying to show off. Agree about the shootout. Bullets flying everywhere and no one of our boys and girl gets a scratch. Also the protester are long gone at the first shot. They sure don't hang around waving their signs while all the cops are hiding behind cars. Sure took a long damn time for any backup to get there too.

I'm to the point of rooting for someone anyone to punch Vince Vaughn out. The whole I don't want a kid storyline & dialog is ridicules.

I'm hooked though. Have to see it through just to see where all this is going. It's obvious Ani's father knows a lot more & is a lot more involved then he's letting on speaking of bad characters.

One question. Did the Mayor set them up?

Pretty sure the mayor set them up. He and the Lt. were pissed they were taking so many cops with them. The Hill Street Blues line, "Let's be careful out there," as they were leaving made me cringe.

The mayor may be the best actor of the whole crew. His drunken rant after the cops came to his house epic.

I think it's about to be three against the world. Each of their departments wishes they were gone or dead. The chip on their shoulders grows each episode. Anger is clearing the vision of Ani and Ray. Poor Paul is focusing better now that he thinks he has the perfect disguise.

The writing seems stilted and I think it's partly on purpose to fulfill the crime noir genre. Marty spoke the same but Coale's lines were so far out there no one really noticed.

Frank is the worst. He's the "louche" of the characters. Someone said there was a name besides Pizzolatto as a writer. Maybe that's a problem.

Frank's vocab-word-of-the-day manner of speaking is probably a hold-over from his trying to hide his rotten upbringing and believing he could "fit in" with legitimate wealthy people if he could appear educated and worldly.

I took the preview to mean its a little bump forward in time. Looks like it's after the Caspere case has been wrapped up and hung on the sweatshop bad guys.

Something was dated 2014 in the first or second episode I believe. I thought it odd at the time. Looked like Ray and Ani were seated at Frank's table at his bar. Maybe not.

Frank is pretty horrible. I expected much better.

He's just not right for the role. The fight scene was especially bad.

Although, nearly every interaction with his wife or whatever she is, makes me want to gouge out my eyes and ears. It's so unnatural it's hard to watch.

Frank may never have done any dentistry on her, but I'd wager he liberally applied the pimp hand when he was a no-name thug. She speaks to him like a wife who's afraid to set him off.

The only time she's stood up to him is in regard to getting pregnant.
