That is not what I said they are hunting they just aren't quite the power they once were. While we will still have to battle for the likes of a UNC the last two years their on the field prowess isn't what it was. IMO the Big has passed them in that respect. Sorry if my post was confusing.

Considering the sweetheart deal that they now have that automatically will put them in the playoffs if they meet certain criteria, which they certainly will with their weak schedule in 2026 and probably in future seasons, and the fact that they play basketball in the ACC and probably several other sports and hockey in the Big 10, there now is almost no incentive for them to join a conference fulltime.

That's definitely a risk to them. With changes to conference scheduling, the benefit to playing them is diminished.
