Have you not read the board? I am of the opinion that many libs on the board really do hate coal mining and by extension coal miners. They agree with Hillary that they should be put out of business. And when Trump steps in to try and help, they mock him and the effort.

It almost seems like they want these guys out of work.

Many do not take Trump's effort on this matter seriously, meaning that many do not feel that he can provide help. You dodged the very question that you responded to.

Deep mining, go for it. Mountain Top Removal/Strip Mining, not in favor.

Unfortunately it continues to build on WV's dependence on mining and may hinder expansion into other economic development areas that could have a longer term benefit to the general population.

As I posted TWICE yesterday, the big effort will be at SCOTUS. The EPA Climate Plan was ruled unconstitutional. It now sits at SCOTUS. Obama was defending the act before the court. Trump will not. It will be shut down by SCOTUS. Even a very, very liberal Constitutional scholar agrees.

https://today.law.harvard.edu/why-epa-climate-plan-is-unconstitutional/

This act shuttered many coal fired power plants across the country. Now utilities will be free to choose their own fuel source which is best for them. Some will stay with gas, others will switch. Demand will increase. How much is anyone's guess. The other good news is that many electric utilities have the ability to switch from one fuel to another.

Secondly, Trump will neuter the EPA by requiring that all new regs be subjected to Congressional approval if they impact the economy by over $100M. I also see Trump getting existing EPA regs that hurt energy off the books. This will take more time than just issuing an EO. Hope this helps.

The artificial destruction of the industry in WV (by Obama's regs) provided no time to even begin diversification. Nat gas would have been a tremendous competitor without the regs but with the regs, they took huge market share.

Diversification takes a lot of time. I live in Texas, I know first hand. Getting away from an oil based economy was difficult. And Texas had many more advantages than WV. WV has had very poor leadership throughout the years. Hopefully, we can begin a logical, well thought out plan of diversification that makes sense. But to destroy an industry in such a short period to times is catastrophic. Not just the mine closings. The other businesses dependent on those mines and miners. Manufacturing plants. Service companies. Small town retailers and restaurants. A big time domino effect.

But get as many miners back to work as soon as possible. Their families, extended families and communities need those jobs.

No help needed. Of course the thread was started due to Trump signing a measure Thursday to cancel the Stream Protection Rule.

I answered your question. You deflect. I have no clue what you mean by "no help needed"?

And Trump has been in office less than a month. More help on the way from Trump.

Why do you hate the mines and miners so much? Why applaud their demise? Why relish in their despair? I just don't understand the liberal mind, although I am beginning to believer, as David Rubin points out, there are old time liberals and there are those taking over the party today that don't share those liberal values of free speech, religious freedom, empathy, help for the poor and oppressed, etc. Liberals today are one big collection of special interest groups focused solely on identity politics.

Why do you persist on posting what you think that others think when you're so terrible at doing so? Just something else to fail at I guess.

Just reflecting on your many posts on this topic. You have a long history in this subject. But dissuade me.

1. Are you in favor of Trump's plan to essentially overturn the EPA Climate rule which shuttered so many coal fired power plants?
2. Are you in favor of an all of the above energy policy?
3. Are you in favor of requiring Congress to vote on any EPA rule that impacts the economy by $100M or more?
4. Are you in favor of overturning EPA regs that don't provide a cost/benefit rationale?
5. Are you in favor of letting electric power companies pick the fuel source best for them and to switch as market conditions change?
6. Are you in favor of allowing fracking in all states and moving oil and gas through pipelines which are the safest means of transportation?
7. Are you in favor of opening up more federal lands to exploration so that we can go much further in achieving energy independence?
