Trump Says He’ll Make His Own Crime Stats to Justify Takeover

President Donald Trump says data showing crime decreasing in Washington, D.C., is fake and has a novel way to fix it: releasing his own crime statistics.

After firing the labor statistics chief because he didn’t like her latest jobs report and then demanding changes to the Census, Trump has turned his sights to D.C.’s decreasing crime rate, insisting it has been manipulated by police.

Asked if the administration would now release its own crime stats to counter D.C.’s official figures, the president replied, “Yes.”

“They are giving us phony crime stats, just like they gave other stats in the financial world,” Trump told reporters on Thursday. “But they’re phony crime stats. Washington, D.C., is at its worst point, and it will soon be at its best point. You’re going to have a crime-free city.”

No no, moe is correct. Washington D.C. is as peaceful as the Garden of Eden was, Trump's just trying to "take it over" so it will be impossible to remove him from office after his term is finished!

As ridiculous as that sounds, @moe is convinced it's actually true. :rolleyes:

A D.C. police commander is under investigation for making changes to crime statistics in his district.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint.

The union claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year.

Pulliam — the former commander of the 3rd District that patrols Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights — was placed on leave with pay and told he was under investigation for questionable changes to crime data, five law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told News4.

That came about a week after he filed a complaint against Executive Assistant Chief of Police Andre Wright, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint.

News4 reached out to Pulliam for comment. He denied the allegations against him and referred us to the public information officer.

Union officials said there is a larger trend of manipulating crime statistics.

There were 116 homicides in Washington, D.C. in 2017. In 2012, there were only 88.

In 2024 — the utopian final year of Joe Biden’s presidency — there were 187. The year before that, 274 people were murdered in the U.S. capital, which doesn’t even sniff a million residents.

Whatever it takes to get factual stats. He's not creating his own, liar, he's searching the truth. The people who live in DC see it. Are they just imagining it?

Why are Democrats and their bleaters on the side of lawlessness, open borders and protecting illegal aliens? Why?

Gregg Pemberton, the chairman of the D.C. Police Union, a branch of the Fraternal Order of Police, explained to WRC how the statistics are manipulated to make it appear that crime has declined. The union also warned about a larger trend of supervisors instructing employees to engage in such practices.

"When our members respond to the scene of a felony offense where there is a victim reporting that a felony occurred, inevitably there will be a lieutenant or a captain that will show up on that scene and direct those members to take a report for a lesser offense," Pemberton said. "So instead of taking a report for a shooting or a stabbing or a carjacking, they will order that officer to take a report for a theft or an injured person to the hospital or a felony assault, which is not the same type of classification."

Pemberton stated that crimes that should be reported as involving a suspect armed with a dangerous weapon have instead been documented as felony assaults.

Just be happy that somebody is taking these thugs off the streets and preventing them from killing or maiming the law abiding citizens of DC

It's the most amazing thing...Dems actually are defending law breakers! What the Hell is "cashless bail" besides an invitation for criminals to commit more even crimes without having to worry about doin' any time for them?
