My initial take on this was that he meant those who where there to protest removal of a Confederate statue and those who were there to celebrate its removal.
Obviously it attracted some bad people....those who were there as white supremacists and those (some of whom were reported as "hired" protestors) who wanted to cause altercations.
I'd like to know what happened once and for all.
