He just can't help himself. Maybe the 40% that make up his base love this juvenile behavior but everyone else thinks he's a think-skinned joke who always has to have the last word. Sort of like dave,.[roll]

I think this past weekend was probably the best they've done.

I've got to ask since it seems like mostly like minded posters on this thread: what do you guys get from reading some of the posters on here? Laughs? Understanding?

Cause I tried for understanding after Captain Combover was elected....got some laughs, and now it just scares the $&@% out of me.

Other than Bob (Bomb) and PATX, most of them are capable of a reasoned discussion. It might be about movies, TV, or office bathroom procedures - but reasonable discussion can be had. Same for when the Democrats were in power.

And yes, the laughs are great.

Laughs mainly. But it is somewhat disturbing how 1. stupid and closed-minded some are and 2. how brainwashed some seem to be. and 3. how hypocritical some are without being able to recognize it. But I'll concede that if everyone was as smart, good-looking, reasoned, well-read, open-minded and modest as me, the world would be a boring place. But it would be so much better.

The ONLY good part of the show this past weekend was the Trump bit. The rest was poor at best.
Umm... Sturgill Simpson was the best part. I was referring to the Trump bit though. That Star Wars broad sucked, the sketches sucked, and Weekend Update was only mediocre.

Simpson was great, but I was only talking about the sketches. I had higher hopes.

The Trump bits will be like the Will Ferrell Bush bits.... they'll go down as classics.

I think Beck Bennet's Putin is the best

I don't think SNL has been very good the last year or two (and I'm not one of those people constantly saying the show isn't as good as it used to be). I think they're blowing it with Trump. In general Trump is getting so much grief that eventually he's going to start coming off as a sympathetic figure.

Why is Alec Baldwin playing Trump? Darrell Hammond did Trump much better IMO. But Baldwin is a bigger name so SNL uses Baldwin. I mostly just don't find it funny. The first rule of comedy is "Be Funny." If you're not funny then you're failing.

I get the impression that SNL thinks their purpose is to stick it to Trump. But there are already lots of people out there that are ready to stick it to Trump or any POTUS so we can already get that anywhere. SNL is a comedy show. Be funny. Every week it's a long cold open with Trump and then a bunch of Trump jokes on Weekend Update, most of which are used only because they're about Trump and because they're actually funny. (Although the line in this past weeks Weekend Update about the Nazi's having the guts to stand up to Russia was good.)

Beck Bennett is great as Putin. I think they could be doing some funny stuff with Putin and Trump if they did it right and replaced Baldwin with Darrell Hammond and wrote it with an eye towards being funny.

SNL has been much harder on Trump than they ever were Obama. They took it easy on Obama compared to other Presidents or even non-Presidents like Hillary. As if they felt they had to "protect" him in some fashion.

Trump's combative bully pulpit personality are an SNL writer's dream.

Pretty much that.

You kinda have to get to "know" the posters though. Airport is actually more reasoned than he initially comes off. If you keep an intelligent conversation going with him, you'll find out his real opinions aren't as extreme as he usually starts out with. There are quite a number of others that are like that.

There are a bunch that are just idiots and you already know what to expect before you even see their posts. They don't add anything to the board for me ... other than feeling sorry for them. And it scares me how blind some are willing to make themselves.

There are some that I feel add a lot of value. I enjoy the different perspectives as it helps expand my viewpoints. Born, DD, THE and others, I do enjoy reading their perspectives.

I agree...I get a lot from DD. Paxx and atl had me going, but it's always left this and lib that....why do much rage at the liberal mind?

It only took me one day to put ATL on ignore ... PAX has been on ignore for quite awhile now.

If I want to know what they think I'll just read Brietbart

I'm starting to see it the same way. I like to hear opposition, but it gets ridiculous. I started a thread on who built the middle class - to point out that it was both right and left policies that make us the strongest- and next thing I know, I'm arguing if the laws of thermodynamics refute evolution with atl

Both of them have the same MO ... they have their viewpoint and then twist and strangulate everything you say. They will try to tell you "you said this, or you really mean that" when you know damn well what you said and more specifically what you mean. Next thing you know you're in a conversation that has nothing at all to do with the original point. Another commonality between them is that neither seem to know what a "fact" is.

For some reason, they like to try to tell you things about yourself that are totally false, but they'll never believe it. I think I know myself a little better than either of them do. LOL

ATL would have lasted longer without being put on ignore, but it was soon apparent that he was EXACTLY like PATX, and since I had already ignored PATX I didn't see any reason to keep ATL around.
