I'd figure I'd start this one instead of a constantly changing individual game thread of r every game.

TU beat Stephen F Austin 3-2 yesterday. Game obviously started slow for TU who basically slept through the opening half. Down 1-0 at half, then SFA made it 2-0 just after half. TU finally woke up and got one back and then Jordan Frederick scored in the 63' to knot it and then again in the 69' minute to put TU up 3-2. TU really dominated the 2nd half and the 3rd goal was such good build up play and players moving into spaces that the SFA defenders were turned all sorts of inside out. The shot was decent but the SFA GK looked like she was averse to diving or leaving her feet as she only offered a feeble wave at the ball despite it only clearing her by about an inch or two.

TU still needs to clean up its passing out of the back as SFA almost turned a couple of the poor passes into opportunities. TU got away with one late as a defender got lazy in her man defending and took the SFA attacker down about 2 inches outside the box. Commentators (Pop and a woman from Bixby. Brittany I think is her name) were like "Well, if anything it's right on the line" and I don't think they fully understood that the line is considered part of the penalty area so that would be a PK if the foul occurred "right on the line". Anyway, ref determined he couldn't change his initial call so he spotted it just an inch or two outside the box.

Match fitness for TU is still a problem as TU seemed to run out of gas in the last 10 minutes and chasing SFA all over the field. IN talking with one of my referee friends who worked the game as the 4th official, they took 2 water breaks per half.

Three of our four defenders getting 50 plus minutes are a soph and two freshmen. It’s going to take some time to get them comfortable playing together out of the back. We are very talented up top. Hopefully our forwards can carry us until the back settle in

The ladies lost to Abilene Christian tonight 0-1. Evenly played match. Disappointing result.

4-1 loss to #22 OU. I only watched the 1st 15 minutes or so. TU was overmatched and OU just kept pressing. I was however impressed that TU stuck to trying to work the ball out of the back which has not been a tactic for them under Rhein until this season.

Interestingly enough, OU had a goal wiped off early because of a foul whistled on an OU attacker for running into the TU GK and causing her to spill the ball. However, replay shows it was a TU defender that ran into Sanders causing her to spill.

Weird thing is while they were tending to Sanders after that play, the TU players were huddled up and it seemed to be the sophomore from Norman who was doing most of the talking (and leading).

Both the men's and women's sides are going to have to figure out how to score goals. Right now they're both struggling to do so.

OU handled OSU last week rather easily as well. OU has a legit squad this year. It was good to see TU at my daughter’s game this weekend. I know she was excited.

One of the guys I worked with yesterday said Jim was at a lot of the games on Saturday....he probably was on your daughter's game. He also said the college coaches who were there were there to absolutely scout the FC Dallas girls. 😬

Yuck. 3-3 draw last time out for TU to UALR. 2-0 loss to ECU the time before. The defense can't stop anyone and I don't think there's much depth in the back so that entire crew looks gassed by the end of games.

It will get worse. Much worse. We have an all-time assist leader, and we are squandering it with a high school coach that could barely make the second round of playoffs at bixby.

Women bounced back with a 3-1 win over Temple yesterday but had to fight back after going 1-0 down early.

TU women earn a 2-2 tie at FAU last night. They were down 2-0 late and scored 2 in the last 10 to knot the game. TU had 14 shots to FAUs 12 so they had their opportunities but struggled to keep FAU's attack in check.

Followed our trend of falling behind early and stormy back late. If the ladies can figure out how to play the first 80 minutes like the last 10 this team can compete with anyone in the AAC. We have a couple of very good offensive pieces. We can score

The front 3 plus the 10 can really play and they understand movement and the creative passing. I've seen some really good build up once they get the ball out of the back, and it's a fast build into the attack. Very deliberate and I think there is a bit of a blob in terms of shape with those attackers and it really confuses the defenders as you've got the player who started on the right moving to the left and the player on the left moves to the middle and the 10 goes out wide and the striker drops into the MF. I mean at times with all the criss crossing it actually looks somewhat choreographed almost like you're watching an air show. And they're just the opposite of the men who can't really score but are pretty good defensively (except on attacking set pieces). If they could ever get through the 1st 60 minutes unscathed they have a good shot at winning games.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to watch the women play this season you’re missing a chance to see one of the best players in the country. Jordan Frederick is #7 in the country in goals scored and an absolute delight to watch. Three home games left

The ladies defeated UAB 1-0 last night at Seniors night. They are now .500 in conference. Pretty good season for the girls

Any offers/contact from TU for your daughter?
Thanks for asking. Colleges can’t contact 2028s or make verbal offers until June 15th. 2028s can’t take official campus visits until August 1st. Recruiting for 2028s really heats up beginning in December.

TU has come and watched my kid play. Hopefully they were impressed :)

This December for the 2028s. Once the college season ends the coaches start focusing on their next class. Which are the 28s. If you’re a 28, you hope your phone is ringing on June 15th.

The ladies capped off a very good regular season tonight with a 4-0 beatdown of Rice. They should be the 3rd seed in the conference tournament. The will play Rice on November 3rd at 12:30 in the first round.

I saw where Memphis was top 5 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches rankings. Pretty impressive.

On the D3 side...Tufts men are #1, Tufts women are #3 (on a closer note, Wash U (StL) is #2 on the men's side and #1 on the women's side. If you've never visited WashU, the stadium where they play football and soccer is the stadium built for the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis. Pretty neat history right there.

Memphis recruits heavily from Canada and Japan. Interesting combination but it obviously works.

Japan on the women's side is vastly underrated as a soccer nation. The men are pretty good too. Canadian women's team is pretty salty as well although I think a lot of their stars were aging and have retired recently.

Girls play today at 12:30 against Rice. Really like our draw.
Somehow make it to the finals and avoid Memphis until then and anything can happen. Pretty sure TU would play for a draw and try to get it to PKs. It wouldn't hurt Memphis much to lose in PKs, still likely a top 16 national seed and home games for the 2nd and 3rd rounds. TU winning in PKs and they get to the NCAA tournament...and my dream of a better coach goes out the window for a few years.

The ladies fall to Rice 1-0. Disappointing end to a very good season for the TU women. Lots a girls returning but we will need to find a replacement for Jordan Frederick’s offense.
