I'd figure I'd start this one instead of a constantly changing individual game thread of r every game.
TU beat Stephen F Austin 3-2 yesterday. Game obviously started slow for TU who basically slept through the opening half. Down 1-0 at half, then SFA made it 2-0 just after half. TU finally woke up and got one back and then Jordan Frederick scored in the 63' to knot it and then again in the 69' minute to put TU up 3-2. TU really dominated the 2nd half and the 3rd goal was such good build up play and players moving into spaces that the SFA defenders were turned all sorts of inside out. The shot was decent but the SFA GK looked like she was averse to diving or leaving her feet as she only offered a feeble wave at the ball despite it only clearing her by about an inch or two.
TU still needs to clean up its passing out of the back as SFA almost turned a couple of the poor passes into opportunities. TU got away with one late as a defender got lazy in her man defending and took the SFA attacker down about 2 inches outside the box. Commentators (Pop and a woman from Bixby. Brittany I think is her name) were like "Well, if anything it's right on the line" and I don't think they fully understood that the line is considered part of the penalty area so that would be a PK if the foul occurred "right on the line". Anyway, ref determined he couldn't change his initial call so he spotted it just an inch or two outside the box.
Match fitness for TU is still a problem as TU seemed to run out of gas in the last 10 minutes and chasing SFA all over the field. IN talking with one of my referee friends who worked the game as the 4th official, they took 2 water breaks per half.
