Beard probably thought Perry fit the MO of a gritty white kid that Knight used to get at IU.
Perry just doesn't have that personality.

lol what????? That never happened and if it had it would be the contract bama gave him just prior to our search. There are 2 things. Barney wouldn’t pay his buyout and like Barney has said it was pope all along (as soon as he knew drew was a no). Any narrative that this guy or that didn’t want UK is baloney. Coaching in rupp is coaching at the highest level. How can you make a determination that Oates won’t come when our defunct AD was just doing what he wanted which was install that bum at Baylor or pope. With the exception of cal every hire Barney has done bb or fb every one he could have landed a better coach but went with the safe pick.

all of these were the safe pick at the time. Clean house and get the Barney stench out. The reason him and Eli won’t walk away is because they know the next regime will clean house. Barney is weak but has a big ego. I mean what AD slaps their name on the sports complex?

And there were plenty of rumors last year of Oats being disappointed in Alabama’s NIL situation and was looking at possibly going to the NBA.

I think he’ll the up going to UNC or Kansas because Mitch sure as hell isn’t going to hire him and will keep Pope too long if boosters and former fans don’t put their foot down.

Weird to say he "never entertained us".
Alabama's AD put out a statement for recruits. Oats himself said he thought about it.
