Hey Fellas, If Grayson is indeed dealing with turf toe he will not be 100 percent the rest of the year. I dealt with one during my senior season of college football and it took 2 months after the season was over for it to fully heal. People say "oh its just a toe", but they have no idea how bad those things hurt. He is a tough SOB so I know he will give it all he has. Do you guys think if he continues to struggle with things on the basketball floor due to this injury that we may see him back next year in a Duke uniform? Have a good week and a great thanksgiving everyone.

I think he will be back regardless, do any mock drafts have him projected as a first round pick right now?

I think coming back for his senior year is possible. If he is still projected as a sure1st rounder I think he goes. If not he might as well stay. Even if he was healthy he's not going to put up the numbers he put up last year. If he does Duke's gonna score a lot of points per game this year. OFC

I think he goes! He worked his way into the lottery and next year will be a guard year in the draft.
Someone said he was on track to graduate in three years and the kids stock has always been in the first round but now he is in the lottery. Turf Toe or not I think he goes.

I dont think he'll be a lottery pick with the talent that will be in this draft. However, the plan is certainly set up for him to leave after this season. Clearly injuries change a lot of plans, so we'll see- still very very early.

Thing about it. If he rests too much, it will be more painful to get going on it again. If he keeps playing, he will feel pain, but less pain and it will significantly dely the healing process. So much like Curry, he will be playing through some pain the whole season or miss significant time. Sucks, but that's how 2016/17 is going for Duke.

Derryck Thornton missed his chance to play heavy minutes for a good team. I guarantee Grayson sits more if we had a 5th guard that could play. We might even have considered keeping Grayson out for 45-60 days with another PG in the lineup. As it stands though, this Duke offense needs Grayson to play, even at 50%. This year will be remembered as the leg curse year.

I'm hoping we have a few more memories than "the leg curse year." Maybe a Natty title?????

Last year Grayson was any where from 30-19 in the draft this year it's been between 17-13.

13 being the celtics who could really use an aggressive combo or two guard.

Luke is even appearing in the second round now. With kids it's just hard to tell, but on the DT comment, I agree. Look at all the pick and rolls he could have had this year in the offense

What's crazy is that of all the injuries, Grayson's is what is worrying me the most. We've been hearing some good news in regards to Tatum and Bolden, and we knew about the issues regarding Giles since before the season started... but for an injury that requires significant rest to heal, who knows if we'll even see a somewhat healthy Grayson in the foreseeable future.

Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart are still playing in Boston. Not too many more combo and aggressive guard play with those two. The Celtics need a shooter and and a big fella.

Grayson's plan is to graduate after this academic year. I thought he made that pretty obvious throughout the summer on all the DBP videos. I think he is gone no matter what. He is on track to be a top 20 pick and I don't see that changing even if he averages less points and struggles with the injury. This is Grayson Allen we are talking about, not the average joe. He will find ways to help the team, especially when he gets the freshmen to feed the ball to. NBA scouts know he has the will to make a solid player in the league, and will note the injury. Plus, we can't afford to rest a guard and he knows that, so he won't sit. Hopefully it can be contained for his sake! As always, Go Duke!

didnt they just sign Al Horford in free agency? I also thought they tried to move Bradley this off season?

Turf toe is awful and it wont go away without significant rest.

Exactly , which is why I don't think he has it. Of course , there could be varying degrees of severity. I don't know. What I DO know is Kyrie had it and , well , he played what? 8 games all year? Grayson's nowhere near that.

I don't think we can guarantee any of our studs stay. According to NBAdraft.net Duke has five players in the top 16 if they left this year and six total on the board...

Yeah, I can't see a scenario, barring injury, where Grayson is back next season.

Also this is just purely speculation, but this being Amile and Matt's last season at Duke may contribute to him wanting to leave this season as well. They seem to be his best friends on the team and sometimes factors like that solidify a decision. (Him working so hard to graduate in three years is obviously the most significant sign that he plans on leaving after this season though.)

I read an article during the summer that said Grayson pulled his hamstring and would be dealing with that throughout the season. If he has been playing with that AND turf toe, wow, kid has some giant you know whats.

Also, those that said he is on track to graduate in 3 years are correct. He mentioned that in several interviews at the end of last season when he brought us fans off the ledge and said he would be returning to this monster team :) Barring some horrible accident, I don't see him staying. Honestly, the way scouts loved Luke at the NBA camps, don't be shocked if he goes as well. Lose 7 players in one year? Ouch, maybe...

They did sign Horford but they need a rim protector. Being a Hawks fan I can tell you that he has a lot great skills but rim protection isn't one of them. And they do desperately need a shooter....or 2

Yeah looked at their roster, they seem to have four true pg's and they have some young of pf and C but not many sg, combo or small forwards that aren't more then good role players

Toe injuries are the worst. They are really troubling. It's unfortunate to see all these injuries. Crazy, really. But, "time and chance happens to them all."
