'Twas the night before the Nationals, and all through the gym,
Not a wrestler was stirring, the bright lights were dim.
The singlets were hung in the lockers with care,
In hopes that victory soon would be there.

The mat was all set on the floor with great pride,
With dreams of gold medals, oh how they'd stride!
And Coach Cael in his corner, and Casey at his side,
Awaiting the bonus points to fly with great pride.

When out on the mats there arose such a clatter,
The crowd sprang to cheers to see what was the matter.
Away to the scoreboard I flew like a flash,
To witness our Lions turn Hawkeyes to ash.

The wrestlers, so mighty, their muscles like steel,
Their skills and their passion, oh what a zeal!
With takedowns and pins, they conquered each foe,
Leaving no doubt, with each powerful throw.

Now Davis! Now Bartlett! Now Kasak and Haines!
On Mesenbrink! On CStar! On Brooks and Greg!
To the top of the podium, reach for the stars,
Claiming the crown, in white and in blue, as champions we are!

As the final match ended, the victory complete,
The roar of the crowd, oh what a sweet treat!
Penn State Wrestling, with hearts bold and true,
NCAA Champions, in white and in blue!

So here's to our Lions, a toast we shall raise,
For their strength and their skill, worthy of praise.
Onward to glory, our spirits ignite,
Merry Nationals to all, and to all a good night!

Well done! The board has found its poet laureate. And it’s not a man from Nantucket.
