I thought the season premier episode was kind of "meh". Anyone feel differently? There were parts of it I liked, but I had issues with a good portion of the writing. For example....

-I thought it was a little bit too easy for Darryl to communicate with Dwight. The two groups are "at war", and Darryl can sneak right into the edge of their compound in broad daylight?

-They made it very clear that Negan is the problem, and that they feel that if they eliminate him, his organization will fall apart. Why didn't they just take him out when he was giving his dick measuring speech. They had 40+ people looking up at him with guns. One good rifle shot...game over.

-Where were all of Negan's people? There are thousands of them. Rick's group is down there with car walls and guns, and only 5 guys show up? Why did they not have hundreds of shooters up in the windows above them?

-Why would the Saviors think that Gregory has any pull with the Hilltoppers? I don't know how long it has been since he left the Hilltop, but it has to have been weeks (at a minimum).

-The priest ending up left behind, while trying to save Gregory, was completely predictable.

-It is getting stale for Negan to end up in a one on one situation with a prisoner from Rick's group. We have now seen it with Carl, Eugene, and Sasha (did I forget anyone?). Now we have to see it again with the priest.

-I have no idea what is going on with the "old man Rick" scenes. I don't read the comics. I guess I will find out as the season progresses.

- I like in-charge Rick more than little lamb Rick.
- Definitely agree with the logic of why didn’t Negan just wipe them all out with his overwhelming numbers... still don’t know.
- With all of the lookout posts being taken out, I can understand how Darryl got so close.
- Last season was meh for me. I think I prefer a focus on a single location and enemy, rather than three different good guy bases and lots of excursions.

You forgot that Darryl got the list of where to find all the lookout posts from Dwight. The posts were not taken out before he got so close.

I am glad itis back. Both of you make great points. I don’t see Neegan getting killed anytime early this season. I believe Rick will kill him sometime near the end of the season but who knows.

I don't read the comic books, but my understanding is that he is still alive in that world. Seems likely that he will survive the All Out War

This.

But then again in the comics Carol lived a lot longer and was living with Rick. Looks like Michonne has taken that role on tv.

In the comics Michonne actually hooks up with Ezekiel, it looks like Carol will take on that role.
