like a pro exhibition game, don't take the results as evidence of greatness.
Look at who played , on both sides, and what was trying to be accomplished, aside from the victory.
Great to hear blew out thier doors, but did both teams go for the win as the goal or was trying different things on the floor before season starts the main goal.

If first half of the season last year RHJ shows up, or two years ago 4th quarter Baker, we can blow the doors off anyone.
It was a situational scrimmage. A SCRIMMAGE...It wouldn't mean a thing if we got our doors blown off, and it don't mean jack if we did, in fact, blow their doors off. I'm excited for the season to start too, but this doesn't mean a thing.

It probably means we took the scrimmage seriously. It also means they worked hard. That’s what a coach wants from a scrimmage. That also means the scrimmage was successful. Real games will tell us more. Especially the first 3 B1G games.

I know what a scrimmage is. You would still rather have the report that we did well than that we didn't do well. Just for contrast, if we scrimmaged St. Joe’s and the report was that they blew our doors off, that would be some cause for concern.

In the Eddie Jordan and early Pike days, I remember that Yale was kick our butt during theses scrimmages - I like to hear this stuff more

I believe it's a given that a scrimmage is a scrimmage and not a game, but I guess some find it helpful to point that out.

I would take "blew the doors off Villanova" as "looked impressive against Villanova in a scrimmage". I believe that's a reasonable interpretation of this "twitter post" or tweet. I also think it's fair to think "that's encouraging".

kcg88's post was unintentionally (I think) ironic. I think we are supposed to just take his word for it.
Right, any of us could post anything. It doesn't mean it happened.

Throw in the fact that he's a Barstool guy and their entire thing is to accumulate followers and engagement...

If you had access to "The Round Table," you would be pleased by the info on the scrimmage. Richie went through a lot of trouble to confirm the results of the scrimmage. You would like what way said about individual players and the team as a whole.

I trust Richie. I do not trust the guy from the original tweet. As you said it took a lot of work to confirm the results.

He’s respected at Barstool. That may sound silly but this kid was just very publicly endorsed by the #2 guy at Barstool this weekend. I would think this would be bad timing to post nonsense but who knows.

it’s barstool. Known for it nonsense. Kid isn’t an Insider.

not saying he’s wrong but there’s zero reason to believe him

If nothing else, performing well in a scrimmage against Villanova will give a boost to our team’s confidence, and will give Pike and our coaches a point of reference for player development.

We know enough now to say Rutgers performed very well. So I would say he was at least not making it up. Did he oversell it? We probably will never know.

Barstool has more credibility than literally any Rutgers writer. They are legitimate. What part is nonsense? Sounds like a borderline "get off my lawn" post
