I think you are getting a little too carried away here.
Let's just not respond to WGLTAUD any longer he's clearly over the top and incorrect. In two days this won't matter. Graphics like these are common. If that staff puts some of those players names instead of a ridiculously $1.1B figure this would go unnoticed. Not sure how this is even a lead story on ESPN. Go figure there probably hasn't been a tweet story for every school on ESPN (guessing less than 10 percent (not talking players) yet we've had two this summer...
I like the tweet. The Rutgers men's basketball program has been the definition of apathy for what seems like forever. A tweet like this makes people think and speak out about RU hoops, which hasn't happened among the masses for a long, long time. If people are talking about the tweet, and they obviously have, it has done its job.

Nothing is worse than how RU MBB was the last couple of years.
This gaff might wind up a funny way for the RU MBB staff to recruit.

Probably because the Olympics is over, the college football season hasn't quite started yet, and they needed some filler material.
Yeah, and if you think that every recruit on the defensive side of the ball has not heard about how many draft picks Ash has coached while at OSU you are insane.
Ash also probably shows off his National Championship ring as well. Think for one second that it matters to recruits that he won it at OSU???

Do you think Rick Barnes tells recruits he coached Kevin Durant or now that he isn't at Texas he can't claim any relation to KD? Is Ben Howland allowed to claim he coached Russell Westbrook? He isn't at UCLA any longer. Think Wojo and Cris Collins point to guys they coached as assistants at Duke when telling recruits how they can develop them at Marquette and Northwestern respectively?
Every HC/staff who recruits against Rutgers relentlessly points out Mike Rice, our NCAA drought, our facilities, lack of commitment to the sport, etc. Our staff has coached high level players from stints at UConn, Pitt, etc. Many of those players went on to play in the NBA. They would be negligent if they didn't use that ammo to try to get kids here. Or do you think some 17 year old HS kid knows Pikiell coached RIP Hamilton at UConn? Or that Brandin Knight had Dejuan Blair at Pitt? Or that together they have coached over a dozen NBA players?

Well of course coaches talk about the players they recruit and they should use that. They can even reference the fact the dollars figures in one-on-one recruiting. And as many have stated if they just showed those players and highlighted the coaching connection (rather than $) - no big deal. It never would have received a bit of attention or mocking by the press.
But to act like Twitter is equivalent to one on one recruiting is silly. Yes coaches are going to negatively recruit against Rutgers - but I'll bet they won't tweet it.

Its nonsense to say that including $$$ in the tweet is a mistake. Recruits want to know that the coaches can take them to the next level which is making $$$ in NBA or overseas.

who cares? why does anyone care that we are putting out overly positive media. exposure is exposure. we're trying to revive our program from the dead. those of you embarrassed by this need to take a step back and realize there's a lot more to be embarrassed about regarding the last 10 years of our program
personally i liked the tweet. regardless of whether our coaches directly coached those players, it means they've been around a lot of extremely successful players and seen them first hand. that by itself is impressive.

I loved this tweet. . . as a Coach you're measured by Championships, as well as guys that you've coached that have made bank in the professional world.
Pikiell's hire is truly a breath of fresh air. As a Rutgers fan, Mediocrity is cultivated like a fine wine.
Especially when the Administration consistently hires people with little to zero experience, and wonders why they're exposed as coaching charlatans. i.e. Women's Tennis.
I want to believe in Hobbs, but I don't.
