As I have mentioned in the past my wife is a Tarheel. (I know, I know) Other than this fact a wonderful woman. This means I watch almost every Carolina game with her. I was thinking after the Louisville Duke game about a very very similar Carolina game. Remember back to late Nov. Acc Big10 Carolina is on the road to a Michigan team with something to prove. Environment, hostility, defensive pressure, and fight from the home team virtually identical to our Louisville game ( and some would argue talent of the opponent the same.) This does not work out well for Carolina.

12:30 Carolina is down 63-43 ( again identical) it was here the paths diverge, however. Roy decided to sit every starter (to prove a point, to produce passion, who knows?) This maybe would have been fine until you decide to do it for 6 game minutes with their atrocious reserves. The lead grows to 22 with 7 mins to go and it was game over. THIS is not coaching, THIS is pitching a fit and throwing the team under the bus for what is your responsibility. Never a strategy change, defensive adjustment, or personnel changes, only go to timeout.

Contrast this to K on Tues. Down 23 with 10 mins to go and he coaches his way out of it. First he speaks belief to the team, second he completely changes the defense , and third he decides a slight switch to Goldwire could provide ball pressure badly needed. THIS is coaching. Moments like these are what make kids want to play for K.

I will never argue that Roy does not understand the game , I'm just not sure he understands that games like Michigan are his fault and sending his team to TO does not make them better and it does not produce W's

Oh yeah and my wife, she can't stand him. Because the inverse is also true and she watches every Duke game and even she can see the difference is night and day.

Excellent post dukerev and spot on. Also, I give you props for marrying a tarhole fan. You’re a better man than I am. That would’ve been a deal breaker for me.

This does not support an earlier notion that Roy Williams is a basketball genius. Are you telling me that isn't so?

And there were a coupe comments in our thread that K should pull all of the starters. I reasoned to one of them by saying "do that, and the lead gets bigger". I'm glad K was the one making that call
