Aw yes, the race card. That is always the go-to for when someone is violent.

You remember when that UNC player claimed Brittain Johnson from Utah called him the N word during the final four and then had to admit he lied just like Marcus Smart lied two years ago when he claimed someone called him that.

People play that card because it's apparently the only one they have. "Let's see, what can I say so I won't face consequences for an unprovoked attack on someone else? Oh, I know. I'll claim he's racist."

I find it alarming how often this is pulled.

From the video, I believe they're Hispanic.

I would make them ineligible for high school football for the rest of their time they have left. That is ridiculous to do that and they could have seriously injured the guy. He could have suffered a back, neck, or head injury from those hits. Especially with that second hit leading with his helmet into a guy with no protective equipment and not likely built for an impact like that. If there was some kind of supposed racial comments made then they should have waited until after the game and let it be known.

The assistant coach is now on administrative leave. At 10 am CST this morning, UIL meets in Round Rock, just a few miles north of here, and will hold a hearing about the incident.
Keep us posted on anything new that may come out. Interested to see how this develops and the punishment handed out.

I just caught the 5 pm news (delayed). The 10 am meeting this morning in Round Rock is the first emergency meeting of its type ever held since the University Interscholastic League (UIL) was founded 105 years ago in 1910. "Timebomb waiting to go off" said one committee member. Hit umpire was a substitute, but had officiated for 10 years. No evidence of racial slurs by umpire or lack of control by Jay HS football coaching staff. High school must convince committee why football program should not be shut down. 2 students suspended, not expelled. Investigation ongoing. Ref has hired a New Jersey-based sports attorney.

As soon as the video becomes available, I will post.

Wow. Thanks. The whole football program could be shut down because of these 2 idiots? I don't agree with that. Suspend the 2 players, but don't punish the whole program if this really was involving just 2 players. Thanks for the update.
