So, after today’s fiasco in Madison, we know how UW fans must have felt at Ryan Field this fall when they hung with the Cats for a while and then had the proverbial roof cave in on them when they shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. It turned out 31-17 but didn’t really feel that close. Dejected Badgers fans around us, and everywhere else, were filing to the exits in the fourth quarter.

Today’s game looked and felt like a mirror image of that contest for the visiting Cats. Lost by 16, but for the last 30 minutes or so the final outcome seemed fairly obvious. Lost by 16.

So, we’re tied 1-1 in games, and the overall score is a virtual tie: UW 79, NU 77. Next month, after we score first it will be an exact tie, or maybe a one-point lead for Northwestern. And we have the home court advantage. Especially for those of us who live among Cheeseheads, let’s take that game by 3 or more — just so there is no doubt and no quibbling about supremacy this year.

My first trip to Evanston since the new arena. Is it still okay to wear the old purple "MAKE SHOTS" shirt, or is that passe in the Collins era?
