Really great to see him score 15 points without any 3’s. Totally different player from 5 or 6 weeks ago. Feel bad that he and Nicholson can’t finish going to the tournament but at least they are healthy and contributing. With Berry back to form, this could have been a very good team. What a shame.

Is it possible he is playing better because of the others got injured? Seems to have found a purpose, different mindset, because of a need.

Maybe. But he looks to be nearly 100 percent back physically. He grabbed a rebound yesterday where he out jumped everyone. Earlier in the year he wouldn’t dunk and was only taking 3’s.

It takes a while to fully recover from the injury he had, Right now we are at about 1 year. and about 11 months post surgery. His moves now are much more fluid and quicker and he likely doe not have the thought of the injury in the back of his mind, Originally his inside game was no where to be found. But now it appears to be returning

After the surgery he was sidelined for several months and lost a lot of conditioning and it took time to get back to where his muscles would do what he wanted them to,

If we win the next two, away at MN, and home against IA, there is a good chance we make the BTT.
If we win the next two, do we start to have chatter about what happens if we beat ucla and Maryland? I realize this is quite unlikely.

Funny how things work. Last year it was the injuries to Berry and Nicholson that really hurt and limited how far we could go (granted, we weren't beating UConn with both of them either way, but if they are there at the end of the season, I'd argue we would have had a better seeding and wouldn't have had to face UConn). This year, it's injuries to other key players and those two and Martinelli are the guys that are on the opposite side of it - trying to keep things afloat while others are dealing with season-ending injuries.

Ty Berry is looking to do more and has a point guard who does traditional Point Guard stuff, in KJ Windham - and to a lesser extent - Clayton.
Nicholson and Berry are both stepping up - and the young guys are looking for them.

We were soooooo static on offense. Now we're trying all kinds of stuff.
In my opinion, some of that has to do with Windham handling the ball.

I looked at a few highlights and saw Windham create a bit off the dribble. He's not as explosive and fast as Boo (not many were), but I think he has enough tools, especially once he gets some miles on him.

We likely would not have been going up against UCON in second round if they had remained healthy

Absolutely wouldn’t have. We would have been a 6 likely. Maybe a 7. But either way we would have avoided Goliath in the R32.

I loved the motion and the speed of motion on offence. Really made the defence burn calories to keep up. I think a big part of that was schematic and a coaching reaction to us being down two top players. For sure KJ and Clayton enable this with their handles, but also seems a coaching decision to play less heroball to lighten the load and dilute defensive focus on our 1 star player.
