If this kid can get healthy, he could provide a lot of help on the D-line. I sat right behind the white team bench yesterday and Tymere is a gigantic human being, listed at 6'5 and 315 pounds. He looked as big in street clothes as many players did in full pads.

He had some big-time offers (Mich. St., Arkansas, Maryland....etc.) coming out of high school after only playing football for ONE year. There was even a report that Ohio State was going to offer before they learned that Vince Marrow's brother was Tymere's H.S. coach.

Tymere seems to be a forgotten man after redshirting his first year and only playing three games last season. However, if he can get fully healthy by fall camp Dubose could provide some answers to a lot of our issues in the front seven.

We have a lot of guys that have had offers from other Div 1 teams that are good programs. Just waiting for the guys to perform to that level. Particularly the lines. So far other positions seem to perform to their offer sheet but the lines have not.

He was a basketball player converting to football when UK offered and he accepted, I believe, rated a 5.4 by Rivals that climbed to a 5.6 by signing day. Another early sighting by our staff.

I'm not sure how true all of it is but the story I read said a major power came to recruit him and asked his coach if he was related to UK's RC, and when he said "yes, he's my brother" the recruiter didn't say anything, just got in his car and left.

If nothing else I think it is a hilarious story.

Size does not equal performance.

I think his size gives him more potential than our 265# walkon DT that started against Florida's fifth year five star 330# first round draft pick Joker's first year as coach. More two stars started that game than three stars for UK with two walkons starting against a TWO DEEP for Florida that AVERAGED a 5.9 on Rivals Richter Scale.

And some of our fans were very upset because we weren't very competitive in that game, although that same team upset top ten USC and lost to Cam and NC Auburn by 39-36.

Football is a funny game.

I would like to see Stoops give up on the 3-4 defense. A 4-3 with our talent would go a long way. I loved our defense under brooks and I feel like we have that kind of talent now. Either we need the 4-3 or rich brooks

What?? Holy crap are you serious…? I never realized that. Man, I guess all those Twinkies and lard I've been feeding my kid to reach the 500 pound mark was all for naught, damn!

I don't really notice us being in a true 3-4 set all that much… We seem to have 4 men on the LOS most of the time. I think they call it a 3-4, but that's sort of a misnomer, it's really more of a flexible/multiple type defense utilizing 3-4 personnel.

Yes, but the Defensive tackles and one of the d ends in our defense are just block eaters. The DTs in brooks defense sacked the QB alot or so it seemed

Let's be realistic...if Dubose can help stabilize a DT spot, we'll be tickled pink. We have Elam for NG (and we cross fingers he can be the kid we imagined 3 years when he verbal to UK). If Dubose can man up DT with Meant, we'd be in such a better spot. That leaves DE which has a problem with Miggins/Bell not happening so far...if Kenegra can make it happen at DE...we could be average at DL which is our 2nd biggest problem (behind both of our tackle spots).

Well you gave his size as a qualifier for why he is the answer to our DL woes didn't you? Something like:
"If this kid can get healthy, he could provide a lot of help on the D-line. I sat right behind the white team bench yesterday and Tymere is a gigantic human being, listed at 6'5 and 315 pounds. He looked as big in street clothes as many players did in full pads."

That in bold is petty absolute.

He's not as heavy as Mr Cobble or Jacob Hyde the strongest man on the team some say. I'm just saying I identify with Cals explanation of "demonstrated performance" and that we have not seen at this level out of DuBose. Now if you said something like, "If he can match his size with talent and performance..."

I kind of thought that was implied and did not need to be stated. I'll be more specific next time.

Another thing… I thought Jacob Hyde more than held his own against the first string OL yesterday. Is he ever going to be dominant, or make big plays… No, he isn't. However, as far as holding his ground and taking up blockers, which to my understanding is what a nose guard is supposed to do, well Jacob can do that.

Hey I hope you are right. Lord knows we need help. I'm just a huge fan of recruiting talent into our program so we can develop players starting farther up the scale.
