Who recruited the roster? Who coached the roster? Who paid 3 million dollars for a big man coming off major surgery? Who brought in one PG after last seasons debacle? Every single thing that happened this year outside of Kam Williams injury is on Mark Pope and this staff. Even making Lowe the PG1 was a chance because he was injured all last year as well and he’s built like a small child compared to the rigors of SEC play.
Wah Wah. I conceded he did a poor job constructing the roster. Next point?

Not this season, but I think next year has great potential. We have a lot of Fr and Sophs who will take another jump. Folks are in a panic because we don't have a 5 star and are pretending there won't be a ton of immediate impact players available in the portal
I don't see the great potential for next year.
Pope missed out on all the big fish, for this recruiting class. If he somehow lands Stokes, great, but that's not looking good.

While I don't like building rosters with a bunch of freshmen, you still need to get 1 or 2 of the best freshmen in each class. You don't have to get them all, but you can't come away with none.

I like that we SHOULD return a good group of guys off this team, but none of them are stars. We need star talent and until we get it, I can't buy into next year being any better.

Pope needs to change a lot about himself first and foremost. Maybe take a "Get Hard" course with Kevin Hart.

If Pope is back next season he is not getting $22 million in NIL. He will have to build a roster with less than half of that

Popes only hope is to swallow his pride and add Rondo to the staff and no not because he is a former UK player but because of what he brings to the table which is knowledge of all facets of the game and maybe even a bad attitude, somebody on that coaching staff needs to get a bad attitude, I've got bad attitude after watching this chit show of a team this year. Rondo brings instant name recognition to recruiting (Stokes would sign immediately) portal guys would flock to him and someone they respect, also turn over all game preparations and practices to him. Our only problem will be keeping Rondo from moving on. Just the name Kentucky or our style of play, is no longer enough to get star players to sign, that style play comment you realize is a joke, you have watched us play so who in their right mind would want to play for Ky.

i don't think Cowboy is any more content with this team than any of us (correct me if i'm wrong). look at his posts after bad losses.
he's just never gonna be the "fire the coach" guy. the man's as loyal as a labrador retriever
I'm glad to see there's someone that understands me lol.
As I have stated numerous times, if I thought for a second that MB would hire a Nate Oats, Dusty May, Greg McDermott or Bruce Pearl, I would help Pope pack. But 1, he won't fire after this season and 2, he wouldn't hire anyone I want, and in all likelihood,
he would hire someone worse. So, I might as well support who we have and hope he can turn it around

Pope needs to pull an old fashion Celtic pride.
kidnap Stokes with a co2 pistol and say it’s your commitment or your life b$$$$. I’m not leaving here without one. He’d prolly get the hell beat out of him and prolly shot around the corner but then just then he might get my respect and Tyrans!

If Mark Pope truly understood the assignment—and truly understood BBN—he would go out right now and get a commitment from Tyran Stokes. The fact that he continues to humiliate this program with massive losses and doesn’t go out and give us something to look forward to shows that he does not understand the assignment.

Humiliation after humiliation, and he just sits there with his hands in his pockets, with zero recruits, knowing we have absolutely nothing to look forward to. Tyran Stokes is a Nike kid from Kentucky and is getting predictions to go to Kansas (an adidas school) with the other Kentucky recruit who Pope whiffed on too.
Not sure that would work now given our performance. Obviously $ is a big factor but if you were him would you want to play 20-25 minutes a game for us. He's the best ranked player in the country and Kansas will probably pony up the funds to land him if Nike accepts him going there.

We should of done this months ago before Kansas got another swing at him and us getting blown out most of the time against any decent team.

Pope won a championship here. He had an amazing time here. Idk if he was fully aware of what he was stepping into. He knew how great we can be. Did he understand the pressure or the assignment?

Riding the rest of your team to a title in 96 doesn’t automatically mean you understand the assignment.
IMO, he understands the expectations. The assignment, I think, is a little more difficult than he thought it was.

matt jones said most donors are out on pope
Right, but how does anyone know how much money Pope will get?
Also, if the donors are out on Pope, there's no use hanging on to him, he's dead man walking.
I hate that, I hate seeing him go out like this. He's a good dude that worked his *** off. The players are the ones mailing it in.

Same goes for Mitch, he SHOULD know the assignment and he SHOULD know how difficult it is to complete the assignment, but apparently he doesn't understand either.
You don't give this job to just anybody, you have to earn it, you have to prove you have the chops for it.
