That kid will not be a Cat. I’d be surprised if Pope and staff sign anyone from this class unless they guarantee them the huge money and say they are cleaning house and starting with them as building blocks.
We are our own worst recruiters with daily bashing of Pope.

I have Zero trust in this staff’s ability to recruit anyone. I really don’t think they’re capable of putting a roster together.
Either we don’t have that kind of money or we can’t spend it as we please. Or maybe it’s something wacky like Pope only takes players who are willing to sign without any guaranteed money so he’s sure they’re bought in, and then gets them NIL deals afterwards.
Whatever the particular nuance, we do not have the real money in hand that we can or will negotiate with to bring in players like Nate Ament, much less Tyran Stokes.
To believe otherwise is to believe Mark Pope is just not as personable as any of these many coaches who have clobbered him competing for every single one of his first choice recruits, or that the recruits didn’t believe he could coach even after he beat eight of the top 15 with an often decimated roster, or that none of them wanted to play in his system, or that Pope was dumb enough to believe things like (no offense) Jaland Lowe was worth more money than Braden Smith. I don’t see myself believing any of those things.

And this is exactly what is about to happen. I think he plays for Nike, I don’t see him going adidas. But at this point he’s probably headed to Oregon and might have been the entire time anyway. With this JMI contract, looks like we’re just being used as a blue blood hat to attract attention.
Thid is horrible. And still, Barnhart isn’t called to answer questions and is still employed. Empty the arena and the stadium.
