Coal severence proceeds last quarter were 19% higher than last year at the same time.
A lot of the plants are gone for good thanks to CommiObama but there is still a market and there are some emerging exporting opps.Going to be a long slow process in the U.S. as utilities converted to gas fired plants due to two major factors, the EPA's regs and the cost of nat gas. I think for even more coal recovery we need new laws that give utilities the assurances they will be able to burn coal and not get their plants shut down. A new Dem President could reverse these gains rather quickly without legislation.
I think a law that would require a vote of Congress if any reg impacts the economy by $1B or so, would give utilities that confidence.

The plants are gone.I think some plants were destroyed but others simply shuttered. I do agree that international markets are where the biggest growth options exist. China and India will continue to burn cheap coal.
