At Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on June 16. Anyone going? Anyone seen them before to give a review?

If you are thinking about going and want better seats, go to U2's website and join their club ($50). That will allow you to buy tickets today rather than having to wait until Friday for general public sales.

I have GA seats in Dallas with two buddies. Chicago and Pittsburgh dates didn't work for our crew. I wish they would've announced the whole GD tour at once. Louisville is just a little closer.

This will be my 7th show and 6th with these guys. My first was at Rupp in '87 pre-internet. Dawahare's had a ticket outlet that we camped out at the night before.

I remember watching a documentary about Live Aid back in the summer of 85. Everyone that U2 were going to steal the show. Until a a band named queen blew them out of the water.

Pun intended?
Yes and no lol. Funny story I saw an interview with bono about meeting Freddie Mercury for the first time at live aid. Bono pretty much said Freddie gave the most intimidating compliment someone could give

Well unless the zombie apocalypse really happens I don't think you will get the original Skynyrd.

Several other "classic" members are living (Ed King and Artimus Pyle) but don't participate. A few others only died recently. Its really just Gary Rossington and a bunch of tribute artists.

Former (original) members

Saw them at Rupp in 86 or 87. Yawn.

Would prefer to hear guitar players that can actually play.

My vote for most overrated band in the history of rock.

How in God's name can anyone believe a DJ duo is worth mentioning in the same breath as a band like U2? Just utterly blows my mind. Couldn't you just stay home and spin your own records and be as good (or better)? Unfathomable.

It's OK if you don't like U2. But, from what little I hear in pop music, half of the guitarists out there are Edge wanna-be's. Almost no one in pop actually plays the guitar anymore. It's all atmospheric, effects-laden background sounds. Personally, I think the Edge is really very good at what he does. Is he a shredder? Nope. But, his rhythm work is damn good and he's very tasteful with his fills and solos. Another guitarist who might blister through solo after solo would not fit the music they're playing (can you imagine EVH playing with U2 - it would be a complete disaster). If that's your litmus test for a guitarist's skill, then I can see why you think he 'can't play'. There's a lot more to playing guitar than playing fast solos.

'Most overrated band in the history of rock'? Really? To each his own.

You didn't. Just sort of a hangover from the Tweets about Gaga 'killing it' and 'best SB show ever!', etc. Gaga can flat out sing but, jeez, her music is just dreck. And having 50+ costumed dancers gyrating doesn't make it any better. Can't imagine Chainsmokers would be any more enjoyable for me. But, hey, they're popular. More power to 'em. I just don't care about that type of entertainment at all. Just thought it was odd comparing an act that plays records to an act that actually plays instruments. Not really apples to apples, imo. Have a good time at the show. Peace.
