Does anyone know what Ross weighed in at?
Coby Merrill - 120kg (265 lbs)
Rocco Dellagatta - 118.8kg (262 lbs)
Koy Hopke - 110.9kg (245 lbs)
Michael Mocco - 105.9kg (234 lbs)
Dreshaun Ross - 103.3kg (228 lbs)
Cole Mirasola - 101kg (223 lbs)

Mocco and Ross each up 2 pounds from the US Open, Mirasola up 4 pounds.

Ross dominated Hopke 10-0. Finals start back in an hour (3pm)
I am most impressed with Ross at Hwt, I think he weighed in at 216 several weeks ago and weighed in for this tournament at 226. He really looked good against Hopke. Villasenor went up in weight to 57 and went from 17 to 20 and under and looks bigger, stronger and seems to be wrestling great against older opponents. Impressive. Robideau has also been impressive, but he has given up a leg more than I am comfortable with. Brayden Thompson won a close match against a guy I never heard of. He wrestled the same but seems to have given up the dyed blond look. Kody was solid except got beat soundly by Melvin Miller. Vega was okay but he sure gives up his legs easily, although he scrambles in some of these situations for the takedown but more often against good competition they get in so deep he gives up the takedown. I use, to really like watching Merrill now it is painful to see his lack of development. The finals coming up and I hope to see a strong performance, but we are the underdogs in these matches except Dee. Even he may really be tested by Penn. St recruit who wiped out Sealy but struggled some in the finals.

Villasenor just beat Knox in the 1st match 3 to 2 with a last second takedown. Very impressive.

Robideau lost 7 to 0 to Duke. I was hoping to see Robideau look better against Duke, he didn't. Duke of course is in the Senior National finals and beat this years NCAA Champ. Lockett is ahead 6 to 0 very impressive. Dee ended up winning the 1st match 6 to 1 against James

Ross loses 4 to 1 against Marisole. Not enough aggression and quality shots.

Robideau and now Ross visibly have very little left for the finals. It’s so stupid to have both qualifications and finals on same day. Atleast they could have used next day.

Ross is pretty close to Mirasola while Mirasola already was in PSU room for 1-2 years, Ross is still a junior in HS. I think Ross catches up to him pretty easy once he gets a year with RTC and Wyatt.

Villasenor is in my opinion the much better wrestler… just not at freestyle with these defensive chest wraps
I agree, Villasenor gets in on good shots and Knox chest wrapped him for almost all of his points with Villasenor getting control and the takedown but gave up 2 or 4 points on exposure from chest wraps. Villasenor needs to adjust and slow the match down some and get 1 or 2 real quick shots.

That is our superstar with Dee teching James, he is just so quick and explosive and fluid. I was concerned but Dee wrestled at a whole level above what I have seen of late.

I agree Landon got 2 takedowns but after the 1st takedown Duke just picked up his offense and scored maybe 3 takedowns in a row. You are right Robideau is a fighter who never gives up. I hope in the next year or 2 he catches Duke. I bet Duke is thinking that kid never gives up.

Villasenor did not slow it down, shot right away and got front head locked head pinched and got gut wrenched a bunch to a quick tech. Great day for Villasenor but got blown off the mat quick.

The strategy for Villasenor coming in had to be stay out of the chest wrap. Finds himself extended underneath Knox almost immediately and then Knox had a deadly gut to finish it off. Anticlimactic third match which was Villasenor's 8th match of the day

I just watched Thompson blow a match with giving up a takedown in the last seconds It looked like a pitiful effort by Thompson. He had the leg up twice and never tried to get the takedown just took them out of bounce. Ian Bush really pushed Surber in the dual but Thompson is a wrestler now in a tough match, he seems to find a way to lose. Mentally he seems to not have any fire.

With nothing else to go on besides reading the results, I do find myself less bullish on Thompson and Merrill headed into the 25-26 season.

I think I'd be more bullish on Thompson if I'd just read the results... watching the actual match makes me whatever the opposite of bullish is. Merrill also hasn't shown me a bunch. I'm hoping he translates more to folk style b/c his freestyle form is 'meh' from what I've seen from the open on. He dominates lesser talent but looks fairly pedestrian offensively when facing those with similar or better credentials.

Merrill finished runner up in the challenge finals losing on a last second TD. He looked strong outside of that. He will be fine.

He will just struggle with the bigger and stronger guys at his weight.

Thompson is who he is.
