No intelligent fan could argue with that. UAB has excellent coach taught by Huggins, had 11 20-victories seasons in 14 years. No slouch, either team or the coach. Should be fun to watch for those who get CBS Sports Network, as I do. I get any channel that carries WVU sports.

I don't know what is more astounding, Taz with TWO points at halftime or WVU only down 3 with Taz only scoring 2 points. Taz must snap out of it and get his 20+ points so WVU can win going away. WVU seems too tentative with its ball-handling. UAB defense has a role in that but my alma mater needs to get unstuck in the 2nd half, starting with Taz. Never seen Taz like this EVER!

Outscored UAB 16-5 in the last 5 minutes and held them scoreless for 3 1/2 minutes from 4:55 to 1:20 left. Toughed it out.

Now that I can breathe again . . .


UAB will do well rest of season and maybe make a run in March Madness. It was like watching a mirror image of a team coached by Huggins' former assistant coach at Cincinnati. Brutal, physical, bruising game. 3 times players had to be helped off the court.

10-1. Pretty silly to complain about that.

UAB would stand in there against any Big 12 team. March Madness teams better hope they don't get UAB in the early rounds!

Next: Youngstown, Wednesday, December 22.

As I said, either we aren’t that good or we are elite at slowing the game down and winning low scoring contests. Tonight was evidence to the latter, gutsy win, hope this style of play holds up in conference play.

So when UAB blanketed Taz and Shaun and held them down WVU was running away with the game?

Wait till we play somebody good in conference that has the talent inside and out.

I don’t disagree. We need more than Taz and McNeil. And with the lack of a “dominant” inside presence will probably hurt us.
