Why not put an undefeated UCF team in there, even if they are non-top-five-conference? Alabama lost decisively to the team that lost the SEC championship. Ohio State has two losses, one of which was a blowout to a mediocre Iowa team. USC has two losses, and was routed by Notre Dame. None of these teams has a better argument than any other, so solve it by taking an undefeated team from the AAC.

Their strength of schedule is in the 90s, that hurts a lot...AAC "lobbying" to become a power conference again but not happening.

You know, the service schools not being able to get into a NCG due to their conference affiliation would be a shame...

I wouldn't mind seeing it. It would either make a case for them joining a power 5 or shut them up.

Houston could have possibly made it if they would have gone undefeated the year they beat Oklahoma.

What made them have a case for being that highly ranked vs where UCF is now?

I could be wrong, but I think the only thing was the fact that they beat Oklahoma. If UCF would have had a high profile win, say against a ranked SEC or ACC team, I think they would be ranked higher.

Not having a high profile win leaves the playoff committee uneasy about how good they truly are because, how can you honestly know?

It's too bad this year's hurricane season forced the cancellation of their game with Georgia Tech.

It sounds stupid, but teams like this can make it, but they can’t sneak up on anyone and do it. They have to have some early believers, which usually comes from previous seasons’ success, or knocking off a giant somewhere. UCF wasn’t supposed to be all that before the season, so it takes them forever just to climb into the top 15. I’d be willing to bet that if they started the season in the top 15-18 and then went undefeated, they’d be in.

UCF missing 2 games is also something to consider. It's not their fault they didn't get to play, but that still shouldn't give them an unfair advantage. You discount those two vacancies and you basically penalize all the other teams by them having to play extra games to qualify for the same goals as UCF.

Should you allow the other teams to vacate two weekends of their choosing, or even the same dates?

Why not? Easy, because if they were not coached by our new coach (who just so happened to play here) there would be no clamoring for them to get in.

Just for kicks scenario: replace Ohio State or Alabama with Nebraska this year, Nebraska fans would be laughing off UCF and their schedule, lack of defense, pillow soft schedule, and everything else about them. This is the truth, like it or not.

Just like in life its who you are, who you hang around with and who you know. UCF isn't a who and isn't part of the "In" crowd (power 5) and nobody in the power 5 wants to play them because if they lose the other "In crowd" teams will look down upon them. They are in a no win situation. It sucks for them, but in this instance it helped Nebraska get its coach whom we desperately needed. If UCF was in the Big 12 getting Frost would have been much less possible.

Life like football aint always fair and as Forest Gump says. Sh!+ happens.

Congrats to UCF on a great season, but this seems like a bad idea. Reminds me of yesterday's postgame presser in which Lane Kiffin was asked if he would like his Florida Atlantic team to play Alabama. He deadpanned, "Oh I would love to play Alabama. But I would feel sorry for our players,"

When I was 15 I watched our 1995 Cornhuskers gallavant all over Florida's furniture after walking through their swamp. I thought, man...our guys could win in the NFL....then I went to Chiefs stadium and watched the Chiefs play the Chargers....no way any college team would beat any NFL team. Giants out there on the field! And they all run fast side to side.

No G5 is taking down Bama or Clemson. Look what Clemson did to Miami!!

I didn't like the games Chins has called on defense but I think the players were running on fumes playing 11 straight weeks. They would play better than expected in a Bowl Game or Playoff

Straw man argument, which is ridiculous and doesn't merit a response

Right on. What about:

I'm of the persuasion that if you're FBS you should have equal weight. We need an 8 team playoff, or just have the P5 schools leave the NCAA and start something of their own.

We made up one of those games. The only one that couldn’t be made up was Georgia Tech. We could be 20-0 and not make the top 4 due to the unfair perception of our conference. The funny thing is the Big 10 is in the same situation as the AAC in terms of teams in the playoff.

Again, would beat down Central Florida

I was hoping we would play a Big 10 team as well just so fans like you could see how good we really are. I am much happier we get to play an SEC team because a victory against their conference champ runner-up will earn us much more respect than against the Big 10 team in that same position.

Also, we are UCF not Central Florida. Way to pay attention to the school where your new coach just came from!

They’d lose by 30 plus to any of those teams.
