What isn't going to fix thing is hiring new coaches every off-season.

Completely agree. Which is why I wish Riley hadn't whiffed so badly out of the gate on the defensive side of the ball that everyone of his hires with the exception of Bray has had to be replaced prior to the kickoff of his 3rd season. Those guys didn't leave for better jobs either. His entire defensive staff was composed of duds which is why we are currently overhauling rather than fine tuning the defense.

At least he recognized the deficiencies. Time will tell if his second defensive staff is better than his first.

I have sort of mixed opinions about the situation.

DW and KW are young, enthusiastic African American coaches who clearly relate to the players they recruit. Whether MR stays or goes, they are likely to be the *best* recruiting coaches we will have at those position groups in our lifetime.

So while I wish MR all the best, part of me knows that this parade won't last forever, they'll move on, and we'll be settling for something not quite as good.

And if MR is allowed to move on, I generally think that those two in particular won't be sticking around either.

Indeed they are. So the dissenting faction has to figure out what they are going to tolerate, of things they say they won't tolerate.

1. Be flexible on the "now" requirement and bring in a new staff who will fix such deficiencies in their own three year window.

2. Be flexible on the "no reboot/mulligan" requirement, and let the current staff upgrades go to work.

Quite honestly, if we take the position that "Year 3 is Year 3, so help us God", we face the very real prospect of firing a staff in which Donte Williams has *zero* recruits ever hit the field, and Parella/Bray had zero years to get anyone on the field to fit the present scheme.

Basically your choices are "give the next guy more time" or "give this guy more time" but none of the above generally include "have a championship pass rush or seasoned secondary in the now".

Me personally, I'm ok handing out 4 or so years (which is another season or two). At worst, we'll hand the next guy a team full of DW recruits and perhaps "now" is in the cards for him.
Attention South Stadium Saturday employees: Your AD Steve Pederson is paging Frank Solich to the office. Coach Solich, please.

Edsall coached at UCONN for eleven years, taking them from 1AA to 1A-Indy and then to the Big East. He was 74-70 when in the Big East (22-26 in conference) and was 3-2 in bowl games during that time. Super modest record of accomplishment by NU standards, but I am sure UCONN fans look back on those days fondly.

Well, I think he left his USF-UConn Civil Conflict trophy behind, so their fans can at least be grateful for that gesture. I'm sure Scott Frost appreciates it.

Most of that board has a personal vendetta against Diaco. I think they are mad because he promised so much and produced so little. However, I am with you. Time in and time out they kept talking about Diaco constantly sitting in the Base D with a bend but don't break philosophy. One lamented that he would blitz about twice a year. I'm not sure we are good enough to just keep everything in front of us hoping the other team makes a mistake. We need to force the action knowing we could get hurt on the back end...but we might make something happen.
When was the last time we had a coach from the Iowa tree do well at Nebraska?
