I find that as implausible as plausible.
You focus on the subjective reactions of a hypothetical executive, but his or her response is not what he or she would fear with broad public disclosure.

Churchill was quoted specifically, fearing “a loss of religion,” among the masses, when confronted with details of a UFO sighting in the early 50’s.

And I think this fear has lost its bite. Too many people and too many credible witnesses have come forward. A clear majority of folks believe in alien life, and that they occasionally visit.

Yeah, I don’t believe that hypothetical fear is justifiable. Especially not in 2023 when we see polls demonstrate faith is not strong in this country. People believe in aliens, but are resigned to the fact that they are only mildly interested and want to hide their presence.

Hack the problem with the aliens landing their spacecraft at the WH is there’s a better than average chance they would crash 👽🚬🍺
I bet your great-grand-dad helped build the world’s first unsinkable ship . . . the Titanic!

I suspect the unbearable heat of our Southern clime has foiled even the best alien AC units, causing catastrophic consequences.

The poor bastards probably don’t have anti-persperent!!

We don’t adhere to the dark forest approach to life off our planet. The aliens appear to have read A Childhood’s End. :)

If we finally establish or acknowledge alien intelligent life, we might try to find intelligent life on earth!

I honestly believe any alien observer would either be laughing at us, or crying for us.

Hell, they might be frightened of us! (Maybe they’ve been to District Court!).

That last point is kind of the point of Asimov’s book; however, if I recall, the aliens have guided our evolution. If we believe they are here, then we must believe they are aware of life other than our two forms. It is plausible to believe we are alone. It is not plausible to believe there is only them and us.

With all of this and the intrigue that is created from such claims, why wouldn’t the government just come clean! And, are you claiming past presidents, senators, etc. all know this, but just don’t talk about it? You must see why there is reason for continued skepticism? Right?
Skepticism is important, I'm a skeptic to some degree. Unfortunately there have been numerous nuts and charlatans that want to get attention, sell a book or make money on the subject of UFOs which have polluted the information pool. What I do believe is there is a lot of legit info the government has kept secret, and numerous informed people are letting us know about it. Where's there's smoke there's fire.

What I've always wondered about is how the typically-depicted aliens could actually build and manufacture their spacecrafts. They always look like they wouldn't have the manual dexterity to do it. Could it be that they are so far advanced, perhaps millions of years ahead of us, that they build them by just thinking about them ... mind over matter ?? Just a thought ...
I'm willing to accept that there could be people of another planet being capable of space travel. We know they are not close to us so their journey here would take a very long time. In fact, that species would have started their journey prior to there being a human on Earth.

What I don't accept is any type of explanation that requires magic. No time travel, no dimensional jumps, no wormholes. Also, the lifeform would have to be much different than us if we are to believe they change direction at 1000mph. It would basically take a solid type of body to withstand the force. Maybe they are plantlike creatures who get their nourishment from cosmic radiation.

My guess is, logistics is plenty to discard the thought, but I happen to know about the quality of cameras for the last 50 years and it's amazing that none of them have ever been used to prove the story.

I wish I could remember his name, but I saw a guy at Memorial Hall around 20 years ago that gave a lecture about UFOs. He claimed all of his information came from government documents. The only pictures he used were of documents and newspapers. He flat out said every picture you have ever seen of a 'UFO' is either fake or easily shown to be of Earth origin.
Was it Joe Nickel?

Yep...no leaks, solid evidence, pics, dead aliens, Mel Gibson or Richard Dreyfuss testimonials or anything for 70 years. Impressive.
How many people have to come forward for you to go, “Hmmm. There might be something to this.”? It’s funny that there are millions that think Elvis Presley is still alive but aren’t buying numerous ex-government officials saying that we indeed have been lied to for years, regarding UFOs. Don’t quite understand, myself.

I totally saw Elvis at the Piggly Wiggly. He was buying drakes coffee cake and an entenmann's from their display at the end of the aisle

Hard to say. A car dealership used to shine colored lights into the clouds at night and it looked like Close Encounters. Also I've seen drones flying in a triangle formation that looked like a UFO, but there is a local base that was running drills.

The vast majority of alleged UFO/UAP sightings can be explained away by common occurrences like these, however there is a large body of cases that cannot.

Anyone who is actually being serious and wants information about aliens and some actual proof. Check out Dr Steven Greer. He is a medical Dr who is the smartest man I've ever heard. He is very involved and knowledgeable about aliens. He actually shows in a video himself and a group of others calling aliens in , and you can see the crafts and a creature or two actually appear. He has indisputable evidence and can explain a whole lot of this ****

It's all very interesting and he explains why and who is continuing to lie and what their reason are for doing so....great stuff

I've watched his two (2) pieces on Amazon Prime.
His tears appear faked and were predictable in the second piece, doing nothing for his credibility, imho.

Sounds credible to me. All the details. Lets call it proof.

I'm very skeptical of Dr Steven Greer, at times he seems to be an authentic research, with his work on the Disclosure Project and other times he seems like he's more interested in building a business around the UFO situation or maybe he's not even playing with a full deck.

The best civilian organization in the US that has worked to document cases and bring light to the issue is MUFON.

I watched the video and agree with the Washington Examiner. They look like far away flares that are slowly descending. (There is a reason flares are so bright at night that is what they are designed to do) They are not hovering they are slowly going down. He says "oh it went into the ocean" when it seems to be still in the air. Him talking about shakras and positive energy does not make him sound like a scientist.

If I read this correctly, you are asking why modern photography has failed “to prove the story.”

The “Tic Tac” incidences were filmed with sophisticated instruments ((FLIR, etc.), and there are several hundred more that have yet to be released, just from the last few years.

Here is a 41 minute video of an impressive military officer, David Grusch, the whistleblower whose story inspired the OP, above.

To prove my insistence that this story has not been a well kept secret, note his quote that, “ostensively, this story has leaked like a sieve for decades.”

Of the allegations or details he relates, almost all have been a part of the UFO lore for decades . . . folks have been talking A LOT.

Really, the only “shocker” to me was that the first recovery operation was in Italy in 1933 . . . I’d never heard of that, or the Vatican’s efforts to insure the US ended up with the materials.

I'll continue to be a UFO skeptic until I see hard evidence. I've seen a few unexplained things in the sky. That vid I saw a few weeks ago of the servicemen who filmed that triangular shaped object? I saw that exact same thing over my neighborhood some years back early one morning while I was taking a "smoke break". I chalked it up to our government and some experimental craft they built. Show me the pilots.
With all of the high-tech phones, cameras, and other image processing machines you would think there would be irrefutable proof if it were so.

I feel like the increase in UFO activity is directly related to the Indiana Jones and the Kindom of the Crystal Skull movie. I know if I am an alien I am pissed off that they would put me in that movie.

We have likely been there for a while.

Go to YouTube, and there are hundreds of videos of oddities, but many of the very best have been (and are) suppressed as “Classified.”

Marco Rubio and others recently had a law passed that any individual in (or formerly in) any agency or industry could report to the Inspector General and the Congress in a Classified fashion, and legally violate any other security pledge.

Grusch and others have now come forward offering Congress the individual names, program names, corporate names, dates and locations of a decades long retrieval program. This program has violated federal law for years, by passingly federal procurement requirements such as competitive bidding.

I think you can have faith in God, and still think aliens possible, and believe perhaps God planted seeds elsewhere too.

Certainly. I think many professed theists would concur. Those that would not are not creating fear in those who know about a government coverup.

What would be more objectively shocking to learn, (1) aliens resemble humans (like the gangly bipod from the dash cam video) or (2) aliens look like nothing we have seen or could imagine?

As humans, we stick our necks into the universe every possible way we can. If we knew of life, we would be reaching out. That tends to be our puppy dog manner. Would all aliens be like that?

If aliens were, as stated above, like ants to us, would we be reclusive and observe without expressly revealing ourselves? I doubt it. We really don’t seem to be built like that.

Now, it may be that this wave of aliens is just a scout crew and it will take centuries for the conquering mass to arrive.
