UGA question for Grumpy

You guys just offered one of the top DB's comong out of Juco this year... Lonnie Johnson. He visited us last weekend and just set up a,visit to UGA for this weekend.

He enrolls in January and is announcing on Tuesday. I believe he is a 2 to play 2 guy so immediate playing time is going to be key.

I'm curious if you can provide some insight on where he ranks on your DB list? How your depth chart looks next year, etc? Thanks in advance!

Well the rumor is that Stoops told him that he wants him to start at bounary CB. Isn't that where Chris Westry starts currently? So this could be about providing more competition at the CB spot and if he doesn't win the spot then there is always Safety that's open after McWilson and Blake McClain are gone, so I think there is a legit spot for him. Even at CB there is a spot for him because JD Harmon is gone too. There is definitely an opening for him.

Now it will be interesting to hear what GawGaw's depth chart looks like. Sure would be nice to pick up a plug and play db to help at CB or play opposite Edwards

Both our starting CBS return, nickle back was a grad transfer. We are reportly recruiting Johnson as a CB, Out of our top 5 one was a Jr, 2 were soph and 2 were true frosh. I will be surprised if one of the soph doesn't transfer. he was a starter early on and lost his spot and played very little afterwards. So in 17, we look to start a Jr, a Sr backed up by 2 true soph with who is there now. I know Johnson is visiting this weekend and he just recently got mentioned on our board. This is a huge recruiting weekend for us, lots of officials from some big name guys, A couple could have an important role in 17.

Wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't told Smart he was gone at the end of the semester, but haven't seen anything on our board like that yet but we are expecting a few to transfer. This particular one isn't a bad kid, just may be attempting to play at a level higher than his ability will allow.
