You might be right. Maybe he's just not a good player. But he also might be a lot better with some actual coaching.

You know that, they better place the ball on the rim so he can dunk because if he has to make a move he will hit the underside of the rim.
He’s a great shot blocker but his other defensive instincts really lack. He’s coordinated but has no handle or offensive moves. He seems like he could be a monster but his liabilities are too bad right now. We shall see if he improves.

Congrats to the kid but I always thought his shot blocking was overrated. He was great when the action was coming straight at him. But if he had to move laterally or come from the weak side? He was pretty average. I think we’ll see a more traditional shot blocker with Amari Williams who has better mobility than Ugo from the clips I’ve seen.

Wish him the best but he was just so inconsistent game to game. Did have a great stretch for us last year across several games and then would mix in some clunkers. That game at LSU really sticks out to me. But, hope he does well moving forward.
He was the third-youngest player last year, behind Wagner and Dillingham, so I think he still has room to mature and improve. We’ll see …
Gotta love his optimism with regards to the NBA but a dose of reality might be in order. I'd take the two bigs we have now over him everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
Guess he did not want to continue playing for Cal or Cal did not want him ?
This bigger question is how did he garner a 5 star rating being that woefully poor offensively and not an amazing rebounder.

Incredible shot blocker but gives you nothing else. Zero. Sure feels like someone who has to eat a huge slice of humble pie on the transfer market..
THIS RIGHT HERE!!!! Sorry, not sorry….Ugo is a TERRIBLE all around basketball player if we’re being honest. Enough of the nice ****, the guy was AWFUL! Absolutely zero and I mean zero offensive skill! It’s gotta be really hard to be that damn tall and not be able to dunk anything but a picture perfect lob! And don’t even get me started on his on ball defense! PATHETIC!
This dude couldn’t average 10 and 8 playing at morehead .. he’s NAIA material .

Yeah it’s been going on for years under Cal. Not everyone can be an Anthony Davis type rim protector, blocking shots is about more than just size. I like the occasional blocked shot, but I like playing straight up defense, boxing out, and getting in position to rebound more. Then we always had the weak side defender flailing through the air attempting to also block the shot. Which gave up a lot of second chance shots/points due to giving up offensive rebounds. All of this happened year after year regardless of the roster. It had to be due to the staff putting such an emphasis on blocking shots.
