What page was that? Must have been the wrong book.
That clip certainly didn’t help Oweh’s case, but I had already soured on the guy before yesterday’s game.I assume because of this clip, the fan base has turned on Oweh.
Is that fair to say?
The Amiri catalogue? What page was that? Must have been the wrong book.
Brandon Garrison heard you loud and clear lol. In his mind, he was doing just that….very forcefully lolSometimes the team leaders need to chew on each other. You tell the rest of the team what they need to do and you do it forcefully.
He never wanted to come back.I have no doubt one is Oweh. Guy is a black hole who acts like he doesn't want to be here.
This laughing on the bench? What a joke you frauds are. Do nothing for UK, trash players, then act like you’re some gatekeeper.Better than them laughing and telling jokes
You dont have to scream to be a good leader but you have to have a spine , call people out when needed and be willing to hand out harsh penalties. You can do that without breaking stuff and yelling.John Wooden. But ... his teams' talent was immense.
You know if he cane out and said he has guys with attitude problems and aren't giving effort and then benched their a** that would get him some breathing room. Go with the guys who play hard and give effort .Mark, the bench is your friend in the long run. Grow a pair, bench some players and recruit from everything learned in this process. Otherwise enjoy a lower college.
Maybe it all related to the supposed locker room issues. Could that the he's pouting because hes not in the NBA this year. There has to be reason of some sort because we saw what he could so last year.
I assume because of this clip, the fan base has turned on Oweh.
Is that fair to say?
Jay Wright?Pope is too soft. Can you think of a championship coach on any level that acted like him? Maybe Tony Dungy? Can you think of anyone else? I'm sure they exist, but certainly not in abundance.
Criticism is warranted on Oweh. Criticism is warranted on Garrison. Last night broke the camel's back for the criticism on Pope. The way he loses consistently is the problem and that warrants criticism. For someone to make absolute determenations on Pope, Oweh, etc. in mid November of year 2 after a wildly successful year 1 is pure ignorance. You can't even begin to take that clutter seriously. Complete jackery.
Criticsm is fine and is totally different than determinations. To say Pope is done here because he's too soft.......definite statements that it's over for him already.....if PURE jackery.Criticism is warranted on Oweh. Criticism is warranted on Garrison. Last night broke the camel's back for the criticism on Pope. The way he loses consistently is the problem and that warrants criticism.
He's 100% fair. I don't get why so many attack MJ for doing what every sports talk show host does. This guy is such a **** stirrer again it’s a few weeks into the season. Maybe jones should be the coach and show us how it’s done. Guys a typical sports media tool
As far as sideline demeanor,Pope is too soft. Can you think of a championship coach on any level that acted like him? Maybe Tony Dungy? Can you think of anyone else? I'm sure they exist, but certainly not in abundance.
Phil Jackson? I grew up living in Chicagoland and watched the Bulls play a ton. Jackson was psychotic when he got pissed. He was massively intimidating. Same for Dean Smith. As far as sideline demeanor,
Phil Jackson
John Wooden
Jay Wright
Brad Stevens
Dean Smith
That’s just to name a few from the top of my head. Now, some of those guys may be maniacs behind the scenes (Jay Wright certainly was). You can’t judge it based on appearances. Some of those guys I just listed are among the greatest of all time in their professions.
We could pick out things from Pope too. My argument isn’t who is or isn’t the most stoic but rather stoicism has no correlation to coaching success. I got your point though and we all just want to see better results.Phil Jackson? I grew up living in Chicagoland and watched the Bulls play a ton. Jackson was psychotic when he got pissed. He was massively intimidating. Same for Dean Smith.
None of the guys on your list are as stoic as Pope. He's in a league all his own in terms of never showing any aggression whatsoever.
Well that pisses me off and I’m not even on the team so I can understand the players feeling mad about it. They probably see him everyday and get more and more mad that he’s getting paid for what little he does. They probably feel they’re worth $10M if he’s getting $3M.They all probably heard the rumor BG got 3 mil
Agreed ... not when it seems "automatic"Never liked the idea of hiring a former player.
I’m not big on it but if the guy has proven he can coach then im fine. I absolutely hated the Pope hire when it happened but it was solely due to him not having remotely done enough to get the job. He got it solely because he played here and Barney knew he wouldn’t turn him down. On the flip side I want Jon Sumrall more than anyone in football because he’s won big each place he’s been plus we aren’t getting a huge name in football anyway.Never liked the idea of hiring a former player.
I don’t want to believe it either. I’m thinking, or hoping, the that the actual issue is another player (garrison/lowe/johnson) and Oweh is pissed that it’s allowed to go on.I just don’t see how 00 went from a great team mate to the worst. I just don’t believe it.
I don’t know about others but for me personally it goes way beyond the first two weeks of year two. Also, calling last year wildly successful is borderline delusional. Even factoring in having to throw the roster together at the last minute there’s no world in which a double digit loss season and sweet 16 finish is wildly successful at Kentucky. For someone to make absolute determenations on Pope, Oweh, etc. in mid November of year 2 after a wildly successful year 1 is pure ignorance. You can't even begin to take that clutter seriously. Complete jackery.
He could get heated when he had to.Jay Wright?
