That's the February 3 rankings in your link. Unless they didn't correct the date?

I didnt notice at first but if you look in his link it mentions the 23-24 season 🤣 Its not for that time frame, but its still funny.

I think everyone woulda taken that ranking mid Feb if offered it at the beginning of the season.

ESPECIALLY if you told me that the SEC would be the best conference this sport has ever seen, with 9 teams ranked in early February. I'd figure we might be at the bottom of the SEC just because of how we really didn't know what we'd get from Pope.

We have three really tough games (TN, Alabama, and Auburn) coming up. All three are projected number 1 seeds in the tournament. It's not going to be easy (even with two of these games at Rupp), but we will be battle tested for the tournament if we can stay healthy.

And yet we have clowns on this board claiming the season is over. Pope has us in a great spot, truly unbelievable with all the obstacles he has had to overcome this year.

I do think if we were healthy, our resume looks a decent bit different.

Don't think we lose @Vandy (Andrew Carr) or vs. Arkansas (Lamont Butler) if we have a full squad.

Truly don't think we lose at home against Bama if Butler or Carr are healthy, as we now know they were both incredibly banged up in that game and it showed (Carr was basically non-existent and couldn't move, and it allowed Grant Nelson to go nuts).

Just think our resume looks significantly better if we had been healthy these last 3 weeks. Hope we can return to that form down the stretch.

I had a goal for this team of winning half their sec games.....if we win more that's just awesome. if we win less.......remember this conference is tough this year. Any given night we'd win 50% chance, now for the tourney just get our health in order and we could make several more wins possible.

theres no way this degree of strength and conference depth will continue right?

I mean at SOME point within a year or two - the sec has to go back to 4-5 top 25 teams

Simmer down, football schools!!!
😟 [laughing] 🤞

That was before we realized that the SEC was a juggernaut! We legitimately have 10-12 teams who can upset anybody in the top 10! That is the reason a 20 win season this year, will be like winning 28 games most other years!

Coaches dropped us 4 spots, to #18.
Some weird stuff going on with the polls right now. Tennessee & Houston won both of their games last week but dropped a spot in the AP poll. UK drops 1 spot in AP but 4 in the Coaches. Auburn loses and doesn't drop in the AP poll. Wisconsin is 4-2 in their last 6 but the 4 wins are against IU, Nebraska, Northwestern and Iowa all bottom feeders and yet they jumped 5 spots in the AP poll and 4 in the coaches poll.

And Duke loses to unranked Clemson and drops 1 spot. But that’s not weird at all lol

Kind of crazy how good that A&M win is looking now. They are up to #8. We've beaten 3, 4, 5, and 8.

Vandy didn't get votes so that's the clear drop off now in the SEC at the 9th place team.
Bodes well for 2nd weekend tourney success....getting to that 2nd weekend might be an issue, esp. if we aren't healed up by then

Who would have thought we would ever see the day when 5 SEC teams are ranked in the top 8 and Kentucky is not 1 of them

It's the school chronies in the AP trying to hurry up and boost their teams for visibility. Voting is now becoming tainted by desperation and favoritism as the year draws closer to an end. That and I think a lot of them really don't like the dominance of the SEC.

Auburn, Bama, Florida/Duke top 3.

Tenn coming into Rupp as #5.

9 SEC teams ranked
Can't think of a more daunting task than to take over UK with a completely rebuilt roster from scratch when the SEC is HISTORICALLY strong. It's sort of absurd how good the SEC is this year.
