Ross: Rach, did you proofread these?
Rachel: Uh... yeah, why?
Ross: Uh, nothing, I'm sure they'll be impressed with your excellent compuper skills.
Rachel: Oh my God! Oh, do you think it's on all of them?

When I originally read the headline I couldn't possibly wrap my head around the fact that there were 500,000 people that applied to UK and didn't get in, UK isn't exactly Harvard.

But it was accepting them into a specific program that only accepts 30 people a year, and they were sending acceptance e-mails to people who never applied to the program, or even the school.

I have a somewhat similar story. I was responsible for paying the expense reports in the company I was working for. They were all sent by direct deposit. We would send an email notifying them of the payment. I would run a program to get all of the emails together and then go into my email and select that folder and it would send the emails. One time instead of selecting that folder, I selected by frequent contacts which was pretty much everyone I ever sent an email to. As soon as I hit send it was one of those slow motion moments when I saw it was sending over 2,000 emails instead of about 20. I even sent one to my ex-wife who I hadn't talked to in years. If I could have dug a hole and crawled into it I would have. Even the head of HR was laughing with me about it.

Mary Dougherty, a high school senior from San Antonio, Texas, was among the thousands who received the mistaken email.

"I was like, 'Mom, I just got accepted into the University of Kentucky,'" Doughtery told WLEX-TV. "And she's like, 'Oh, I didn't know you applied to University of Kentucky.' And I was like, 'oh, I did not.'"

Other students who received the email told the outlet they had never even heard of the university, let alone applied to the selective program.

"I had to Google it just to make sure it was a real college because, like, I've heard of them. But I'm not so sure," Erin Esping, a senior from Georgia told WLEX-TV.

Other than New Jersey, which has Rutgers, is there a state that doesn't have a university named after it? Alaska is Alaska Anchorage. SUNY in New York. Just not knowing that means you're not ready to go to college.
