I'll take Florida, Tennessee and Georgia. You can have Kentucky, Vandy, Missouri and South Carolina and I'd feel good about my chances of the east winner coming out of my group.

Florida, Tennessee and Georgia....all teams that lost today and for the most part have been pretty underwhelming this season. If UK can continue to improve, I like our chances against these teams.

Some Vandy fans wanted Mason fired at the end of the season.

There were fans wanting their coaches fired between the start of the year up until now from every school but Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Missouri (rebuilding with first year coaches) and Arkansas (just don't recall any talk of firing him). So many teams either improved as the year went on and changed their mind or declined and now want their coach fired. LSU even fired theirs during the season.

They have been underwhelming. The east winner still came out of that group.

I'm glad we can go into next year with hope. Apapthy sucks and we made great strides towards losing that today.

I think the OP has a point. The SEC East has been down for a few years now. Unless we see some breakthrough like a Florida or Tennessee it's a legitimate point. Obviously, those teams will be more talented but it really hasn't shown on the national scene.

Don't put yourself on a limb there Nostradamus. You going to take Alabama, LSU or auburn vs the field in west as well?

My apologies kyboy, as Paul Harvey would have said, "now for page 2 of the story"! I jumped to an erroneous conclusion regarding your post(s)!!!!!

If nothing else, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, Georgia and Vandy are very set at the QB position heading into next year.

Florida and Tennessee ... ?

Those ugly wins we had against Vandy and South Carolina earlier in the season look a little better now.

I think Florida's defense will keep them ahead of the pack next year, but there are still a lot of opportunities for other teams to make noise in the SECE next year. Hopefully UK is the team to do that.

You just seem like a realist to me. Nothing wrong with that.
There's being a realist, then there's being a Debbie Downer. OP simply said Vandy and UK are on the rise and could challenge for the East title. Not that they would win the East, just they could challenge for the East title. Seems unnecessarily negative to immediately shoot that down with a post like that, especially considering that poster's history.

Some Vandy fans wanted Mason fired at the end of the season.

A lot of Cat fans wanted Coach Stoops fired after the first two games this year. As a coach, you can go from a"Peacock to a Feather Duster," in a short time.

I don't see either team winning the east, but if UK was ever in a better position to win it (outside of this year), i don't remember it. UK has all of the big boys at home. Playing at Columbia in mid-September should be a good barometer. Win there and then beat UF at home, and all dreams are on the table...
